Born in the Philippines, CDR Neihart grew up in the Northern California town of Elk Grove. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967. Upon completion of boot camp, he was selected to attend the Naval Academy Preparatory School fNAPSj from which he entered the U.5. Naval Academy, graduating in 1972. CDR Neihart's surface warfare career has included service aboard USS INFLICT QMSO-45613 USS MACDONOUGH QDDG-39j, USS BRADLEY QFF-1041j, and USS PYRO QAE-24j. His last shipboard tour was the Executive Officer, USS SHASTA QAE- 33j. His significant shore assignments have been as a NROTC instructor at the Citadel, Charleston, SC, and most recently, on the staff, Commander in Chiezi U.S. Naval Forces, Europe, London, United Kingdom. CDR Neihart is a graduate of the Surface Warfare Gfficer School, Department Head Course, and of the Royal Navy Staff College. ln addition to his Bachelor of Sci- ence degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, he has obtained a Master of Arts in Teach- ing degree from the Citadel. CDR Neihart's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and vari- ous unit and campaign awards. COMMA ASTER CHIEF . vi, , ,way yy H HW,,,,f , , I BTCM ISWJ William A. Irving A native of Canton, Massachusetts, Master Chief Irving joined the Navy on 15 june 1970. Upon graduation from boot camp in San Diego, CA, Master Chief Irving was assigned to the Vietnamese Naval Unit at Vung Tau, Republic of Vietnam. He served successively onboard USS AIAX QAR-51, USS HECTOR IAR-71, USS GURKE QDD-7831, and the USS MIDWAY QCV-411. His shore duty assignment took him to NA VSUPPACT TREASURE ISLAND in San Francisco, CA. Master Chief Irving once again returned to sea duty, where he was assigned to USS OKLAHOMA CITY QOG- 51, USS BLUE RIDGE QLCC-191, and the USS YOSEMITE QAD-191. Upon Completion of his tour, Master Chief Irving was assigned to SIMA Mayport, FL. Upon detachment from there, Master Chief Irving was assigned to USS MOUNT BAKER QAE-341, where he was assigned as BoiIer's Division Leading Chief Petty Officer until 1988, when he was assigned to his current position as Command Master Chief of USS MOUNT BAKER QAE-341.
