l444?fza It was on the rught or rather momlng of October 13 1964 at 2 30 A M rn the Stark Club owned and operated by Lyle Stark that the Semors of 1954 were enjoytng a grand reumon Kenneth Rrchey s Ragnme Rascal s wtth sololst Martha Dean Prtest were Jazzmg a tune Annette Cosens was then called upon to do a dance for whrch she rs famous In one corner of the room the art of ractng horses was being loudly drscussed Of course the authorittes on the subject were Peggy H1gg1ns Elaine Klopfenstren and Mar Jorie Lamb who were the co owners of H K L Thoroughbred Farm rn Lomsv-rlle Ken tucky I had no more than turned around when there was Julta Arm Gorman who IS the owner of the famous Madame Julie s Dress Shoppe in New York She was consulung the fashion expert Mrss Sharon Schmelzla as to what she thought next year s fashlons would be show1ng Everyone was tndeed honored to have wlth us Professor G E Q George Q Lyon e chemtst from Califorma Bud Clark the automobrle designer and Eddte Johnson General tn Natronal Guard Next I came upon two gtrls Mrs Pat Wallace wrfe of the Presldent of the FFA and Mrs Donna Johnson whose husband has done so well tn the retarl ltquor business that he recently purchased the Four Roses Company Suddenly I became aware of a charmmg femuune volce and folmd It to be that of lovely Helen Pomdexter telltng about her expenences as a U S O entertarner abroad Catherxne Rost was tellrng of her slxghtly drfferent experiences abroad Cathertne IS now a mrssxonary rn Afghanrstan In a bnghtly llghted comer of the room I came upon the athletes Mrs Jeanne Stark s husband was tellmg about hrs playxng basketball for the New York Celtic Club and Mrs Drane Parrish was telling of her husband s betng chosen All American Quarterback Included m thts athleuc group was Glenn Masters and Rtchard Akers who own a large recreanon hall 1.n Ch1cago wh1ch speclaltzes rn the game of snooker of course there was the tnevltable polrucal dtscussron In thrs case it was be tween a group of brg bustnessmen and a group of wealthy ranchers The ranchers were Mrs Shuley Smrth s husband Notonous Nevada Gene who has just struck o1l on lus large Nevada ranch Bob Johnson who owns a Hereford ranch rn Montana and Edward Johnson who ts a very successful wheat farmer tn western Kansas The bustnessmen were Mr Gene Post who IS the 13th president of General Motors Dale Koontz who now owns the enure Wlutehound Bus Lrnes and Mrs Ruth Maloney s husband who ts presldent of the Amencan Plumbers Assocrauon I ended my httle tour of the gay party by heanng from the adventunsts of the class Roger Carbon 15 a Jet prlot and John Wrlhams IS lus co ptlor very danng lads both of them Delton Demott ts a motorcycle racer All and all my classmates occupattons were very mteresung and most of them were a surpnse to me I couldn't help but tlunk what tnteresnng case histones some of them would have rf I could only get my hands on them As for me Ralph Bradley I am a psychratnst . Vice Presrdent Marjone Lamb Secretary and Treasurer Sharon Schmelzla Reporter Julra Ann Gorman Student Councrl and Cheerleader After what seemed lrke a short vacatron we started back to school as Juruors We elected the followrng offrcers Peggy Hrgglns Preszdent John Wrllrams Vtce Presrdent Sharon Schmelzla Secretary and Treasurer Drane West Reporter Ralph Bradley Student Councrl Jeanne Good Cheerleader We were happy to have our Juruor Homecommg cand1date Peggy I-hggrns chosen as Queen tlus year Th1s year we had many acuvrues to take part rn Some of the fust thlngs we drd were to sell magazmes and to sell at the football games Our class nngs arnved the fust of November and we were happy to get them The Jumor play Forever Albert went over w1th a bang after a few mrshaps and a lot of work Last but not least came the Junror Seruor Banquet wluch was bu1lt around the Gypsy theme At long last the fall of 53 rolled around and we started our last year as happy Senrors of Mound Crty Hlgh School We elected the followmg offrcers Dale Koontz Presrdent Lyle Stark Vxce Presrdent Annette Cosens Secretary and Treasurer George Lyon Reporter MarJor1e Lamb Cheerleader Sharon Schmelzla Student Councrl Slurley Johnson our Semor cand1date was chosen as Homecommg Queen th1s year Our class motto IS For the servrces of many but for the love of one M C H S Our f1rst Job thrs year was to mrtrate the Freshmen mto full membership of Mound Crty Hrgh School At last the ume came to take the Seruor prctures and to order our caps and gowns and announcements for you see the ume was drawrng near when we would soon walk out of the doors of M C H S for the last mme We had a hamburger fry and gobs of fun on our Senlor tr1p to Krrkwood Lodge rn the Ozarks After four years rn Mound C1ty I-hgh the day we were all lookrng forward to came at last the day we graduated and recerved our drplomas. , . . . . . 1 1 1 0 u . 1 S v 1 1 .
