SENIOR HISTORY Many h1stor1es have been wr1tten 1n the years past but none so s1gn1f1cant as th1s one about to be wr1tten New goals had been reached and new records set 1n the era of the class of '53 In the fall of '49 ' Z8 freshmen started the1r h1gh school careers 1n M C H S At our f1rst class meet1ng we elected Barbara Brown pre s1dent James Greer v1ce pres1dent Bob Good secretary and treasurer Nad1ne Shaw student counc1l Mary Ann Ayers, cheerleader and home com1ng queen cand1date There wasn't much h1story mak1ng th1s year only a couple of p1cn1cs for enterta1nment In our Sophomore year we elected the followlng off1cers Nad1ne Shaw pres1dent James Greer v1ce pres1dent Bob Good secretary and treasurer Patty Coffeen student counc1l Mary Ann Ayers cheer leader Patty Coffeen homecommg queen cand1date Th1S year we had a hayrack r1de and a p1cn1c The year went along qulckly and after what seemed l1ke a short vacat1on we started back to school as Junlors These people were chosen as class off1cers Don Stark presldent Bob Good v1ce pres1dent Laveta Bartlett secretary V1rg1n1a Waters treasurer Patty Coffeen student counc1l Mar1e Cromer cheerleader The class was very happy to see the1r cand1date Nad1ne Shaw become Homecom1ng Queen Many th1ngs happened th1s year that 1S worth settlng down on paper The annual Jun1or Play Teen T1me went off w1th a b1g bang under the d1rect1on of Mrs Carmlchael Then came the Junlor Senlor anquet Wh1Ch was bu1lt around the theme Garden of Fr1endsh1p The class also sold magazlnes and ran a concess1on stand to help ra1se the1r funds The athletlc ab1l1ty of the class began to sh1ne when the Jun1or Boys took f1rst place ln the lnterclass Basketball Tournament F1nally the fall of 52 rolled around and we started to school as proud Sen1ors Our class off1cers for that year were Laveta Bartlett Pres1dent Vada Allen v1ce pre s1dent Nad1ne Shaw secretary V1r g1n1a Waters treasurer James Greer student counc1l Mary Ann Ayers cheerleader and V1rg1n1a Waters homecom1ng queen cand1date We chose as our class motto Cl1mb though the rocks be rugged One of our flrst act1v1t1es was to 1n1t1ate the Freshmen 1nto h1gh School Then came the orderlng of caps and gowns and announcements the day was near1ng when we would graduate from good old Mound C1ty H1gh School We had several part1es and had gobs of fun on our Senlor tr1p at Klrkwood Lodge 1n the Ozarks And at last came the most looked for ward to n1ght of the year Graduat1on and everybody was very glad to get the1r d1plomas .
