After hunt1ng w1ld boar 1n Afr1ca for three years I got lonesome for dear
old Mound C1ty and some of my school mates so I got 1nto my car and start
ed toward home
As I neared Fort Scott I began to get hungry and thought I'd stop at Larry's
Dr1ve Inn but as I came around the corner there was a red neon Slgn flash1ng
Foots1es Dr1ve Inn I went 1n and to my surpr1se who was there but Foots1e
McGown stand1ng by the cash reg1ster w1th a f1ve cent c1gar 1n h1s mouth We
had a n1ce chat and then he took me back to where a gay party was go1ng on
There were two more of my classmates Jess Johnson and D1ck McIntosh both
marr1ed and successful bus1nessmen Jess owns a reta1l hquor store and Dlck
the Fox Theater We talked of old txmes and hstened to the rnuslc of J1mGreer'
Qu1ntet and rav1sh1ng star solo1st Nad1ne Shaw
I started out aga1n and th1s t1me lookmg for a motel I remembered a n1ce
one r1ght out of Fort Scott As I pulled 1ntc the motel Laveta Bartlett Brun1oj
and her husband were there Can you 1rnag1ne Laveta marrled to a m1ll1ona1re
and we1gh1ng 98 pounds'?'7??'7'?'7'?'?'?"'P'7'P?'P'P'P
After breakfast1ng w1th the Brun1o's I started for Mound C1ty I saw two
sallors go1ng my way so 1 stopped and p1cked them up They Were H0110 Oth'-31'
Jeanne They started tell1ng me some of the news for after bemg gone for
three years you lose track although I heard Mary Ann tell1ng me that she was
marned nowand wa1t1ng for herhusband Darrel Agard to be dlscharged
Bob sa1d Bev Quade Jo1ned her s1ster 1n Ch1cago and they were both work
1ng 1n n1ght clubs Of course we'd all heard of the famous Mack Parr1sh
who 1S now playlng quarter back for Oklahoma and Strangler McGrew a
contractor who 1S really raklng 1n the dough
I was shocked though upon hear1ng that the qulet serene g1rl of the class
Vada Allen 13 now a reporter for the New York T1mes
After spend1ng a few weeks 1n Mound C1ty I located my other fr1ends and
started to see them In Kansas C1ty I found Mar1e Cromer danc1ng on telev1s1on
and do1ng the commerclal for Lucky Str1ke you know the one' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '
At the a1rport I found Charles Parr1sh a p1lot He took me up for a httle
r1de and th1s pleased me very much He told me that Howard Barnes was the
World's Welterwe1ght Champ1on after a knock out over K1d Gavahn
Go1ng on to Denver I found Edna Mae R1gdon an 1nter1or decorator and
she's com1ng home w1th me as I'm go1ng to bu1ld a new ranchhome rather
my husband to be 1S and I wanted Edna to do the decorat1ng
Guess th1s wlnds up the Sen1ors of'53 and a happy and prosperous lot all
except me G1nny Waters
After th1s tr1p I'm happy but broke
