Wav back in the Fall of l9h7 30 frightened but determined Freshmen huddled in the halls of 'CHS They well knew that the next four years would mold their lives for the future For their class officers they elected President, Mary Louise Boots, Vice President, Gay Lee Brown, Sec Treasurer, Marv Ann Bruce They had a class picnic that fall and had an enjoyable time and also had a wonderful time at the initiation party viven them by the Seniors As sophomores in l9h8, with Coach Dixon as sponsor, the class of Sl elected the following officers President, Bill McCoy, Vice President, Gay Lee Brown, Sec Trea Gwen Creech, Student Council Representive, Mary Ann Bruce, The usual class and school picnics were fully enjoyed In the fall of l9h9 the Juniors began one of their most exciting years They elected the following officers to represent them President, James Williams, Vice President, Gav Lee Brown, Sec Trea Mary Ann Bruce, was Bill McCov Their first extra cirricular activity was the selling of food at the athletic events This was done to raise money for the Junior Senior Banquet It was verv exciting as they transferred the food to the fair grounds for the football games in pickups in the afternoon before the game As some of the drivers were undomesticated it was very hazardous to ride with tiem The class rings were ordered and when they arrived later in the year the Juniors were very proud of them, never hesitating at a chance to show them off Then came the laborious but amusing job of presenting the Junior Plav Everyone appreciated getting out of class to practice It took place as scheduled without a mishap under the able direction of Mrs Gilmore The Juniors chose sides and sold magazine subscriptions for Curtis Publications Richard Day was high salesman and received a pen and pencil set from the company The losing side gave the winners a party in the Home Ec Room Several times during the year the Juniors held a big feast in Mrs Gilmore's room and invited the faculty Everyone enjoyed the occasion im ensely and ate a lot of good food In April the Sociology Class, composed mostly of Juniors, went to see the Mental Hospital at Osawotamie as part of their Sociology Course There they saw the modern methods by which the patients are handled The Juniors presented the Seniors with 1 beautiful Banquet, in April The thene of which One Enchanted Evening The gymnasium was beautiful under a blue sky with silver stars glittering from above On Commencement night the Juniors had the thrill of marching in with the Seniors They enjoyed another class picnic in the spring at Pleasanton Lake The task of publlshing the monthly school paper, 'The Eagle's View fell to the Seniors It came out every month and was full of entertaining news and typographical errors The Seniors held a Christmas party in Mrs Gilmore's room and invited the faculty Mrs. Gilmore, the class sponsor, resigned at the end of the first semester and Archie Olson took her place in the teaching staff and as Senior sponsor. On March 30 Dale Koontz took most of the Seniors to Kirkwood Lodge on Lake Ozark, Mo. for their long-awaited sneak day. There they fished, square-danced, and took boat rides. Everyone had a wonderful time. April 12 the Seniors presented their Senior play nBILL'S NIGHT OUTN. It was a good play and attracted a large crowd. Junior-Senior Banquet, Class Night, and Commencement are yet to come but the Seniors are predicting a very enjoyable txme. ' r ' I Class Reporters Emma June Price, and Bill McCoy, Student Council member I YI Glass Prunhecy 1960 Having been working hard for the last ten years, I decided it was time for me to take a trip and visit some of my former classmates. I had hardly turned on the highway when I saw a sign advertising the Troth Here ford Ranch owned bv Raimond Troth. Raimond is a wealthy rancher and in his spare time is a Hell Driver for Joey Chitwood. I continued on in to Mound City and left my car at nBEANIF'S GARAGEH owned by Freddie Dean, world famous mec- hanic. Then I took some clothes down to Don Agard's Cleaning Shop. Having worked up an appetite I went into the 'GREASY SHOONH Barbara Amer's famous re- staurant, and had a turkey dinner. The poor fowl originated on the williams Turkey Farm, owned by James Williams and his wife the former Marv Ann Bruce. The attratiye and efficient waitress was none other than Waneta Priest Martin, who was working for Barbara while Glenn was in the Air Force Wishing to keep my usual well groomed presentable look, I went into Donna Master's Beauty Shop and had my toenails manicured I had hardly stepped out on the street when Joyce Williams drove up in her new Cadillac Joyce is in Hollywood now and her screen name is Tallulah Turnbull She offered to take me to Pleasanton to catch the bus when I boarded the bus I noticed it belonged to the Harlow Bus Company, owned by Frank Harlow Frank became interested in bus driving while in High School. On the train I had the pleasure of renewing acquaintances with Lowell Hime and Bill Good They are both in the Navy and were home on furlough Arriving in Kansas City I went down to the stockyards and here I saw Bill wolf- inger and Bill McCoy They had a shipment of cattle there Gene Ray Jamison and his wife the former Mary Louise Boots had hauled them up there Then I went down to see the new Hadacol plant being erected in Kansas City by Davy Johnson, owner of the company and a steady user of the product The Max Casteel Construction Company was doing the work Jimmie ltobacco breath!
