A R OFFICERS Presldent Wllllam Kelghm Vlce Presldent Ethel Pfledercr Secy Treas Jacquelme Sutter Advlsors Mxss Schw egman Mlss Jones SOPHCDMORES After an eventful summer slxty SIX ex freshmen entered M T H S to start thelr new role as sophomores Although some hated to see the sum mer end nevertheless all seemed glad to be back 1n school The class was well represented ln the organlzed school act1v1t1es and clubs Mary Hager Maralene Dockus Mary Koch and Bob Hertensteln put on the Student Councll There seems to be a Jxnx on the wlener roasts planned by thlS class Last year the hay rack broke down on the way out and thlS year s mls hap turned out to be a flat t1re on the return trip Incldentally the wlener roast was held at Roeckers tlmber on October 8 In order to round out thelr deflated treasury the sophomores prepared and sold lunches ln the Home E looms two days a week durlng Feb ruary The fmanclal returns wexe satlsfactory but not phenomenal The SOCIHI Hour planned and sponsored by the class was also successful f1n anclally and socxally Two new membexs Jolned the group durlng the second semester VIOIGI Vla who came from Caxro UIINOIS and Curtls Hlllman formerly of Fan vlew Ill1no1s Both of these students are very welcome to the class and to the school The sophomores are lookmg for ward eagerly to next years fun as Jumors Edltor s Note Sophomores are sald to belong to the human race though vxnced The SPBCIGS found 1n M T H S may truthfully be classlfled as super human We antlclpate a record year for them ln 1948 49 XVVY 5-N law 'I . -Ng '1' Two Years Before the Mast 1 9 4 8 - T II E C U L D O N their hearts and souls into their work there are Scientists who are hot Con- ' ' s 4 .
