Voyage of 1944 45 Entering high school in September our class contributed thirty seven members to the crew of this vessel Fager anticipation filled our hearts and the 1n1t1at1on party held for us on the twentleth of the month quickly convinced us that we belonged to '1 fine and active organization Miss Jones and Mr Gould were chosen as our advisors Les Freiding er became our president with Don Schleber as vice president and Betty Cottingham as secretary treasurer Bob Hauter was our Student Council representative for the first semester and Merlin Birky for the second The first class project undertaken was the freshman Wiener roast on October 17 We hiked to the Opti mists cabln for the feast and thus made an addition to the memorable experiences which were coming thick and fast in our new environment Later in the year came our social hour which the whole school attend ed We modestly felt that the event was a success as all seemed to enjoy our hospitality Alice Muselman 45 was crowned queen of the eveninng and it was our intention to repeat this feature each year thus establishing a tradition But alas' for good inten tions' We m1sla1d the crown' Boys represented the class in sports and girls participated in clubs during the year. Three of the drum major- ettes Priscilla Kring Marilyn Zobrist and Margaret Kipfer belonged to us. We were sorry to lose Hazel Vis- sering during the second semester be- cause of her family s removal to Mar- celine Missouri. Henry Binkele from Green Valley joined us in the spring and Carl Blankenship withdrew. Voyage of 1945 46 Returninguto school in September of H A O 1945 we were prepared to enjoy the prestige and privileges of sophomores Thirty four of us continued as mem bers of the crew We chose Mrs Koch and Miss Neel ey for our advisors and elected Bob Hauter president Howard Binkele vice president and Betty Cottlngham secretary treasurer Howard Binkele and Priscilla Ueberrhem served on tne Student Council Again the two main events of the year were the wlener roast and the social hour The former was held on October 12 the latter on March Zz Both were successful occasions This year our partlclpatlon in all activities was more varied and exten sive Some of our members worked on assembly programs The. drum major ettes continued to perform at football and basketball games and to wm honors in the contests which they en tered During thlS second year we were glad to receive into our class Jack Stout from West Monroe Louisiana Dean Price from Decatur Mary Moore from Peoria Mary remained with us only one semester removing to Chandlerville in January Dean Price also moved away and Joyce Eigsti 1n the second semester entered Deer Creek high school because her family was now residing in that vicin- ity. Priscilla Kring moved to Bloom- ington during the summer and Ray Richardson to Mt. Auburn. Voyage of 1946-47 With two years behind us we now acceded to the proud titles of juniors and upperclassmen. It seemed that experience and knowledge entitled us to speak with assurance on questions relating to school life. Mr. Hodge and Mr. Whitaker were chosen as our class advisors.
