Is Highlight of Year Members of the Junior Maid ' s Court were Judy Johnson, a freshman, and Karen Wood, a junior high student. Dena Black- burn, also a freshman at Jordan, was crowned Junior Maid. In the Queen ' s Court were Linda Gardner, a senior, Betsy Vines, a senior, Brenda Kennedy, a junior, and Marsha Hughes, a sophomore. Bonnie Hubbard was crowned Homecoming Queen. Each girl worked very hard for about three weeks before the big night. Candy, cokes, cupcakes, popcorn balls, and snow cones were sold almost every day during the last week. Sock hops and dating games were held in the gym to raise money. There must have been some disgust, dismay, and disappointment during those weeks, but that final night made the trouble worth-while to each girl. 21

, 66- , 67 Homecoming Although the final score was quite a disappoint- ment, the half-time show at Homecoming 1966-67 certainly was not. The Blue Devil band and majo- rettes marched onto the field joined by the choirs of Mortimer Jordan. As the band played, the contest- ants for Junior Maid and Homecoming Queen were escorted onto the field and introduced to the students, parents, and alumni. After the Junior Maid, Dena Blackburn was crowned, the band gave a royal fanfare and the name of the 1966-67 Homecoming Queen was announced — Miss Bon- nie Hubbard. Dr. Dodson crowned our queen and Jessica Kilbildis presented her with red roses. Ev- eryone then joined the band and choirs in singing the Mortimer Jordan Alma Mater.
