and the Latrn Club Our outstandrng athletes were and strll are Blarne Trafton and Clarence Squeakre Irrsh They were chosen for the unusual honor of playrng on the varsrty team therr first year All rn rest of the school wrth some enter tarnment rn the form of an assembly under the drrectron of Mrs Flaherty We sponsored two rummave sales whrch were very successful and added to our treasury The money The proceeds added to 0111 treasurv A baked bean s11pper was also sponsored to augment funds Many of the boys and gnls DHFLICIDHLSG lll the varlous clubs and organ 1zat1ons lll the school I11 the field of sports however we were part1cu1arly proud to cla1m as OUIS two of the Western Mallle Champs Blalne Trafton and Squeak Ir1sh We walted w1th 1n1pat1e11ce f1on1 the t1me our class rxngs were ordered lllltll late spung when the dellvery was made After seelng them we knew that they were well worth wa1t1ng for When J u11e came round on the calendar we real1zed that upon returmng 111 the fall lt would be as members of the Sen1or Class W1th th1S thought 111 mxnd we eagerly awa1ted the commg of another school year On a sunny day Ill the mlddle of September approxlmately 126 students returned to Morse as SCIIIOFS We elected as our presldent Joan Shaw the second g1rl ever to hold th1s most coveted office 1n the h1story of the school The other officers elected at th1s t1me were Arthur Bowker v1ce pres1dent Annette Godfrey secletary Barbara Poulos treasurer Our adv1sor th1s year was Mr J Edward Pomeroy Aga111 th1s year we were very ably repre sented on the Student Cou11c1l by Joan Shaw Barbara Dunton Clalre M11 to11 Amel1a Mltchell Edward Rowe a11d Carlton Reed the latter belng elected presldent of the COllllC1l One of the most 1mportant lf 11ot the most 1mporta11t events of the year IS our annual Moh1ba Talent Show a11d Ball These fest1v1t1es were held 111 the fall rathel than Ill the spr1ng th1s yea1 for the f1rst t1me Wlth the Sen1ors taklllg thell usual prom1nent parts 111 the act1v1t1es Th1S arrange ment proved to be so successful that Mohlba w1ll be contmued at th1S t1me 1n the future Although no11e of our cand1dates for Queen of Mohlba Ball were elected Av1s Cartex a11d Barbara Dunton were the Sen1or Attendants As the year plogressed Basketball became the mterest of the moment It IS doubtful whether there IS another school 111 the state WhlCh takes 1ts
