' o ii fi EA tikbf u 4 . . . A ' T Class of 1930 It was not long ago, but we wonder To sit and count over the years, Since our class came to old M. H. S., A part of its -laughter and tears. There were lessons to learn and remember, Problems to solve and to state, After school an hour filled with torture, For the sinners who stumbled in late. There were friends to help on the way side. We had to have self-control, Much courage, and determination, Before we could reach the goal. There were trials and disappointments, There were days of fear and dread, When the whole world seemed against us And we all wished we were dead. But the day has arrived-now we're seniors- A day filled with tears, yet delight, When all our lessons are finished And we'll start on our journey through life. So we're bidding fare-well to our school- A school of renown and fame- But we'll hold in lasting remembrance Her colors and worthy name. Our thoughts, our prayers, will be with you Our dear old Morristown High, May you always be a gleaming light Whose rays will never die. ' -Mildred Crosby '30 + we X iii -X I, . QL, . ' B- 4 4 ' - 3 'S . ' Class of 931 After years and years of trials and tribulation we were at last prepared to enter High School as Sophomores. But alas! and how! We suffered the same as the lowly Freshmen. The girls had to wear green ribbons on their hair, denoting their rank of intelligence with the upper classmen. We were forced to enter and leave through the side door. Later the whole class was enticed to sing "Dear M. H. Sf, before the student body. I think that the most of us were hoarse for only a few sang. However, some of us tried for Glee Club the same year. . In ,ZQ we again entered our 'old High School but this time as the notorious and most feared upper-classmen, 'tThe-Juniors." But never again will we share the thrills as we did the year before. This time we were not on the receiving end but you know how it is, two sides to everything! The boys won the basketball tournament in ,29, the girls having won it the year before, thus the sports laurels were evened between the boys and girls. We have a representative in most all modes of school life, there are some in football, basketball, track, and baseball. There are even a few good students also. We have representatives in the Monogram Club, Debating Club, Hi-Y, 78z6, Physics, and Chemistry, every where in fact you will find some one of the class of '3I. Although we studied hard to pass to the Junior Class, we leave it with many regrets. Again I say we will pass on to our Senior year with sadness, be- cause it will be the last year for us in our dear M. H. S. Though it may be the best year of all, we think that it cannot be much better than our Junior year, and we will never forget in the years to come our happy days as an under- graduate. We bid adieu to the old and journey to the new. .J .xr I 7, , -X as A- .!'f5xk - rr Y. a L rf 4 I 1151 ,f 1 wif ZW' Q AVA, A , sf L? wr. A Aw fy 's L Me' iff.: 3 jg? .53 LN' A11 Xxv,,'! 'It feels good to be an honored and- respected Junior instead of one of those lowly, downtrodden Sophs: And O! What a jump it was. Most of us still donit know what it is all about: Taking off from adverbs and landing in the midst of Ben Franklin, Cotton Mather and the other great scientists, and from n-2-f-mozpz s-u to why angle three is equal to angle four. We mildly wonder at the futility of it. Ah well! the strife will not be long. When we get to be Seniors we will do just as we please. - -Mack Ryburn Howard Collins Clifford Cowan J. C. The adventurous day of- our arrival came at last, a cold, clear day in January, 1930. We, the class of ,32 approached M. H. S. with joy, mingled with fear. The days passed and we soon became acclimated, with nothing more serious happening than a few demerits and matinees. ' We are looking forward into the future of the next three years, hoping they will be years of happiness and joy. But pleasure is not our chief motiveg we plan and hope to attain great success in our high school career. . A We appreciate the efforts of our former teachers and we feel that it was only by their help that we were able to realize our highest aim. We hope they do not find their work in vain. Dual meets were held with Kingsport and Knoxville in which the members of our team displayed marked ability. The members representing the Morristown Club were: Margaret Long, Lucille Inman, Mildred Harris, Sarah Fox, Walter Susong, and Edward Ryburn. Coach Petie Siler came to Morristown in 1925, instilling with his fine leadership, new ideals into the members of the club, At the present the Mono- gram Club members are representatives of our best students who are striving to attain a loftier position in scholastics and athletics. ,, M W! , effegfgj GIRLS GLEE CLUB BOYS GLEE CLUB xk"7'-X 1. if 1 M YI-..
