So the fate of this year's team fell in the hands of the sophomores and the freshmen. Regardless of the playing conditions or the team they were playing the girls always gave all they had and the people sat back and admired their spunk. With a spirit that would never quit the girls won their share of the games. The games were always ex- citing and close right down to the wire. When the going got the toughest that's when the girls got the toughest. This year's team was good but next year's team should be great with not a single player departing from the squad. Once again it is hats off to Coach Freeman and his gallant girls' team for a tremen- dous job. Thanks to Frances Holland for a swell job as manager. When the opening game rolled around the starting five was composed of one senior Charles Jacobs, two juniors, Dick Duke and Don Hobbs and two sophomores, Billy Dear- man and Jack Youngblood. This year's team was not so big as far as size goes. The starting five was composed of only two men six feet or better. The other three starters were only five-ten. what the Eagles lacked in size they made up with a gallant heart and a lot of spirit and determi- nation. We here at MHS like to refer to them as the "Team called Desire. " Although the won and lost record was not on the tremendous win side, we still like to think of this as one of the outstanding teams in Morrison history because of the extremely difficult schedule they were faced with. Included in the Eagles' victims were the Man- chester Red Raiders for the first time in over a decade. It is hats off to Coach Freeman and his Eagles for a job well done. The past was bright but the future is even brighter as next year's Eagles should be the cream of the crop in the mid -state area with the departure of only Charles Jacobs. We wish the best of luck to the Eagles of 56-57. Thanks to our manager Earl Barr and Bobby Mitchell for a great job.
