Even though our schedule has been harder this year than in previous years, we have been able to win the majority of our games. At the beginning of the season, it looked rough for us in girls and boys together, but with the fight and determination that this group of boys and girls have had, we have once again come out on top, It gives me great courage and enthusiasm to see the spirit and zest that both teams have had this year, We started this year with two regulars on the girls' team, They were Dena Bell and Joyce Lefevers. Besides Dena at guard, Dortha Pendleton and Louise Bames have turned in some of the finest defensive play that I have ever seen, The opposition is averaging less than thirty points per game, Rachel Kennamer and Wilma Robinette have ably assisted Joyce Lefevers at the forward post this year, We are looking for even greater performances out of them next year. Rachel is the shortest player in this area but has over- come this with her speed and accurate shooting. We lose Dena and Joyce from the starting six along with Lorene Titsworth, Emma Jean Youngblood and Josephine Hobbs, We lost four out of our starting five from the boys' team last year, It looked as though Morrison might not be as strong as in the past, but they have proved themselves to be one of the strongest teams in the district, Earl Beck was the only starter to return. Playing opposite Earl at forward is Lloyd Sherrell, at center, Burl Rigsby, and at the guard positions, Charles Ware and David Earl Simmons, Graduating from the squad will beg Earl Beck, Burl Rigsby, Charles Ware , Jim Bob Prater, Houston Bell and Bobby Belcher. Iwould like to thank Cornelia Jacobs, Jean Campbell, Calvin Williams and Jack Smithson for a well done as managers, It is such outstanding play that these teams have shown that gives me the courage to continue onward.
