Pinson, Sr., and son, Sylvester, were killed in an automobile accident in 1939, inspires all who know her by her faith and fortitude in the face of misfortune. Iking a person of true radiance and grace she has influenced and inspired all of those whom site has touched during her life of dedicated service to the college of which her late husband served as President. Presently, she is serving as assistant librarian here at Morris College. She is a former public school teacher and an active participant in civic endeavors. “Mother” Pinson is a gifted writer and has established quite a reputation as a poet. With warm affection and sincere appreciation of one whose philosophy is “To live to serve and bring happiness to others,” we dedicate this edition of the HORNET to Mrs. Bessie Alma Pinson. JUST ONE LITTLE CANDLE If you can light just one little candle. In a dismal, dark and weary world. If by a smile, one word of courage You lift one’s hopes. flag of faith unfurl. You NOW arc one of earth best benefactors; Though unknown your noble name; If you ENRICH the minds of any You have not, yea, lived in vain. 6 Mrs. B. A. PinsonForeword We live in a space age. To survive in this space age there must be progress and to progress is to move forward. As you peer through the pages of this yearbook we, the members of the 1968 Hornet’s Staff, hope that you will have the spirit to "Go All the Way” for this should be your desire. We wish to thank each member of the staff for his contribution in making this publication a success. No one contribution can be considered as most important, the entire group’s efforts and other contributions from students were necessary to make this yearbook one of the best in the history of Morris College. ALMA MATER Morris our college dear With hearts all filled with cheer We come to thee Throughout life’s checkered ways Thy name we’ll ever praise Teachers of youthful ways All hail to thee. When from our homes we came To own thy lofty name Breathe courage free Parents and teachers dear Calmed by the lack of fear Pay homage through the years All hail to thee. 8Cflcfminisi rat ion Uiie Hi act? tone Of O ur Orowiii 9OUR PRESIDENT Dr. 0. 0%. There are many challenging problems and situations which tend to interrupt our lives and progress. As students, we must overcome these obstacles placed before us and strive to unlock the door to success, but before wc arc able to unlock the doors to success we must prepare ourselves to take on the responsibilities behind these doors. This is our main purpose for being in college to prepare ourselves for these responsibilities. Wc are the generation of tomorrow. Today we find computers, new life saving formulas, and many other discoveries that were once never dreamed of by man. It is up to us to continue this progress. As Student government President of Morris. I challenge you to reach out and remove all obstacles in your life and strive toward a fruitful goal.THorr s (Joheye Choir .James 7i).
