SCEPTRE STAFF-Jerry Moss, Derald Biggerstaff, Sandy Thompson, Pat Morrison. Mike l R nnie Proctor, Ron Jacobs, Charles Beltramo. Mr. Dick Wynne, Pat Mooney, Dick Doug as, 0 Stukas. Missing: Don St. John. celo fre The 1958 Sceptre is the largest and most expensive yearbook in Morningside's seven-year history, with 144 pages and a total budget of nearly EB5000. It is put out mainly by the annual staff, a group of students who spend one period a day plus time after school and on weekends and school holidays to make this book possible. An increasingly heavy load of work was borne by the Sceptre staff photog- raphers, who not only took many more pictures than in past years, but also developed and printed them. In addition to the regular annual staff members, several school photographers and members of the Lion's Roar staff helped considerably with certain parts of this book. Pat Mooney, co-editor, Dick Wynne, advisor, Mike Bel- tramo, co-editor. 1-.,w441t,, .-.V-V MW,

There were almost 40 reporters and editors, compared to only about half as many in the l956-1957 school year. Though plagued by a shortage of funds, development of the practice of putting out occasional two-page issues helped to guarantee coverage of most Monarch activities. Since many of the staff members will be back next year the staff will probably be even larger. As a result, first-year students will receive a full semester of instruction before they actually start working on the paper. There may also be enough advanced students to have new editors each semester. ' The larger staff will also mean better coverage for an increasing number of campus activities and athletic teams.
