President. Chris Cottle Vice President, Dottie Ahlburg ' in If Secretary, Pat Ganulin Treasurer, Ron Moore ounci Council is always thinking of the Student Body. For example, the campaign assembly was arranged to provide an interesting presentation of the candidates of class and student body officers. As a gift to the student body, at the conclusion of first semester, the student council presented the 'iF0ur Preps in an assembly. During the year. in February, the Monarchs appeared on television, Channel ll, on the Dick Whit- tinghill Dance Party. This was possible through arrangements made by Council and Mr. Eldon Boyd, prin- cipal. Also in February many outstanding athletes, the student body president, and the Pep Squad were seen on the 76 Sports Club. This appearance was also made possible through student council. Many projects supported by student council are not as visible as those previously mentioned. However, everything done is for the benefit of the majority. It is for the students to uphold and follow student government. for as Abraham Lincoln once said, It is a government of the people, for the people, and by the people. It is for us to take advantage of the privilege of student government. Front-Valerie Venger, Sally Wilson. Hedy Davis. O The House of Representatives, under the direction of Dave Holland first semester and Dorothy Ahlburg second semester, accomplished a great deal this year. Meeting every morning under the direction of Dave Reiss, MHS director of counseling and guidance, they helped tackle the many problems that confront the student government. The representatives, who are elected by their third period classes, hold section meetings in 'these classes. They then carry the problems that are discussed there to House where they are acted upon. Their activities this semester have included arranging to have walk signs put up, raising money for a telephone call from foreign student Fee Feustel to her parents in Germany, conducting the campus clean-up campaign and attempting to improve assembly conduct. They have sponsored the car rodeo and the narcotics assembly, and they have co-sponsored school dances. Other activities include the charity drive. the student court and the publicising of school activi- ties. They also revised the activity point system.
