Water Polo made its debut this year as a Morningside sport. With plenty of r experienced tearns'on its ambitious schedule, the Monarchs really came through in fine style, winning over half the meets. Spark plugs of the Varsity were Mike Nollan and Warren Pickens, who car- ried the team into fourth place in the Pioneer League, a position they should I improve next year because everyone should be back. The Bees took third in the O 0 League with the Cees coming in second. 120 VARSITY-Steve Haas, Ken Mclvlullin, Furman Marsh, Paul Perrinc, Ira Yawnick, Joe Herzog, Don Had- dox, Ron Jacobs. ross own fry Another line season was accomplished by the Cross Country teams as the Varsity de- feated 39 teams while losing to only 3 during the regular season, under head coach Dean Miller. They took championships in the Pioneer League for the fourth straight year, and won the CIF Seetionals. while placing fourth in the CIF Finals. Due to their great record. the team was invited to the National Postal Meet along with eight other teams. The Monarchs took both the five-man ten-mile relay, and the two-man ten-mile relay. with Furman Marsh and lra Yawnicl-Q Competing. The squad elimaxed its season by being voted as the best Cross Country team in the country by the Track and Field News.
