NA special. activity in which drama department participated this year was the Inglewood Ftttteth Anniversary Pageant. The department furnished both the actors and the dancers for this event, which was held June 6 and 7 at the Centinella Bowl. The cast, which was assembled by Mr. Ton, contained over 2000 members. Morningside students played prominent parts. Q The outstanding job don-e on this civic undertaking is another reason we at Morningside teel our drama department IS one of the best in the city. HA Bell for Adlainton A Bell for Adamo boasted of two things which made it a fitting close to a good year. It was one of the first times the play had ever been presented by a high school drama group, and it was enacted by the largest cast of the year. This cast was headed by Ken Del Conte, Chris Cottle, Burton Davies, Sylvia Santany and Warren Chick.

Mn y, , 15: 'x HA Young Mlainfs FQLHCYM A Young Man's Fancy, a three-act play presented in March, was sponsored by the Ingle- wood Teachers Association. All profits were put into a Scholarship Fund for the Future Teachers of America from both Morningside and Inglewood High Schools. The amusing comedy, which was about a timid young boy in a summer camp, starred Gary Carlin, Ken Del Conte, Ruth Pettijohn, Judy Jensen, Sandy Phelps and Tom Grates. Uneatacit Plays Another interesting drama activity has been a series of one act plays dramatized by the various periods. Period 1 presented Cup of Kindness and Pink and Patches. 'tGray Bread and Elizabeth were the contributions of Period 2. Period 3 presented New Fountainf, the cerebral palsy play, and 6'Cracked Ice. Roughly Speaking, Three Cents a Day and Just Another Saturday were shown by Period 6. 'Forgotten Many' was seen during the Easter vacation. These plays were usually viewed during lunch time with drama students and other Monarchs acting as the audience. They gave the students an excellent opportunity to work on the stage with costumes, make up and lighting. They also gave many students a chance for acting experience they would have otherwise missed.

I' gr r l' The color and the form of traditional and modern art is expressed on Morningside's campus by members of Monarch art and crafts classes. Crafts classes have produced a multiplicity of articles intended primarily for their own use. such as leatherwork and ceramic objects. Art classes have produced not only those things for their own use-such as paintings, modeling item, drawings, mobiles, etc.-but also a wide variety of things for the benefit of the whole school-such as posters, program covers, banners, stage scenery. etc. On the following pages is a small sampling of some of the best work to be produced by members of the art and crafts classes. Unfortunately, space does not permit identifica- tion ofthe individual artists and craftsmen. I . . I .ffyaj gig, fi aftt o 1 dowfie lfd ,' nj,-V 17 Y ' X O 4 L i EEWJQ WW' ffm! Jfjfj f
