' BAN D The Morgantown High School Band under the direction of Mr. Emmet Simmons has com- pleted another successful year. Several new instruments were purchased in- cluding Tympani, Baritone, Alto, Bass Clarinet, and the Oboe. New equipment and many pieces of music were added to the library. This fall the Band played for all home foot- ball games and several basketball games. A con- 1 cert was given at the Metropolitan Theater in which Dr. Frank Simons, world famous cornet soloist, con- ducted a portion of the program. As a climax of School Auditorium and attended the Huntington State Band Festival the first of May. At the festival, which was held May 5 and 6, the Band received first place in maneuvers and second in concert performance. Dr. Eugene Wei- gel, head of Ohio State University, rating the Band superior , also had them assembled and paid them a personal compliment. The Red and Blue Major- ettes were especially attractive this year and re- ceived recognition for their outstanding work.
