V el a x - -.lg-A " N . my QB L RAYMOND narrrox-1 BURNEI-L HAI-L Mnas HARGROVE Coach Managers 1Q52 FOOTBALL 1952 The Moody Bearcats opened their 1050 football season agalnst the Rogers Eagles at Moody The Bearcats fought hard but were out played by the more experienced Eagles Moody did not score until the last quarter when Gary Wallace passed to Virgil Aycock for the touchdown The final score was Rogers O6 Moody 7 Outstanding on defense were Bell McKam1e and Donaldson The next game was with the Riesel Indians This was the first district game for both teams The score ended 0 O but the Indians were declared winner on penetration 4 2 This game was decided by the lnterscholastic League Bob Simms and Harold Jones were outstanding Moody s second district game was w1th the Axtell Longhorns The Bearcats played good ball during the entire game but did not have the determination as did the Long ed a good game for the Bearcats The Bearcats first victory of the 1052 season came from the Belton B team Moody s f1rst touchdown came in the first few minutes of play Jack Bell scored from 19 yards out In the same quarter Charles Wright ran around end for Moody s second touchdovm In the second quarter Wright intercepted a Belton pass and ran it back 65 yards for a touchdown The half ended 13 0 The third quarter was scoreless but in the fourth quarter Bob Simms scored the touchdown that ended the scor1ng for Moody The game ended 24 14 Elliott and Aycock were outstanding for Moody Then the Lorena Leopards invaded Bearcat stadium The home team played insplred football the first half and the half ended 6 0 The game ended 27 0 1n favor of the Leopards Wallace MCK3m16 and Johnny Newman played good offensive ball for Moody Moody s next game was with the Crawford Pirates at Crawford In the second quar ter Wallace blocked a Crawford punt the ball rolled out of the end zone for two pomts for Moody The whole Moody team played great football for the Bearcats throughout the game Elliott, Jerry Brentham and Gordon Donaldson were the most outstanding horns. Final score--19-O. Charles Wright, Richard Permenter, and Mack Fletcher play- Next, the Bearcats journeyed to Connally to play the Cadets on their homecoming and were defeated 20-6. Wright scored Moody's only touchdown of the night. The Moody team was playing with out the service of one of its players, Bob Sims. Mack Fletcher and Richard Permenter were the Moody stars. The Bearcats played the State Home Hornets next at the Waco field at two o'clock in the afternoon. Charles Wright scored first on a 50 yard offtackle run. Mack Fletcher kicked the extra point. Jerry Brentham scored the next touchdown on a four yard plunge Fletcher converted. Aycock and Berry were outstanding for Moody as they took a 14-0 victory. Then the homecoming game with Midway, where the Bearcats played inspired ball, but were downed 26-6. Outstanding for Moody were Wright, McKamie. and Fletcher.
