CUMMANDER HELMER Commander Dale P. Helmer assumed the position of executive officer aboard the MONT- ROSE after serving in a variety of billets. Having graduated from the U. S, Naval Academy in I945, he has served on the lnterAmerican Defense Board, with the NROTC Unit at Princeton University, and has extensive destroyer experience including Executive Officer ofthe USS MORTON CDD-948l, Commander Helmer is originally from Nash, Oklahoma and now resides in San Diego, California with his wife Irene and nine children.
