This year's freshman-sophomore team had a good season under the coach- ing of Harold Shugart. Like all teams, this one had its ups and downs, and its biggest thrill came when all the boys worked together to conquer Marion. There are quite a few of these fellows who will go on to play varsity ball, but they leave behind just enough men to start out another year towards success for Freshman-Sophomore basketball. l l J l l :I Il l l 1 jg, . For the P, T,,A, Christmas program, and after many hours of pra- ctice the department presented Song of Christmas , featuring narration stage action, and solo and group singing, After the WaMac Festival, attention was immediately turned to the production of the operetta, The Fortune Teller, one of the highlights of the year. Again there were tryouts, designing, parts, and prompting under full swing. It turned out a fine performance, In April vocal soloists and small groups took part in the contest at Oelwein and the following week sang with the chorus and glee clubs in the annual large group contest. To complete the school year of '55-'56, the Girls' Glee club sang God of All Nature at the Baccalaureate services and the Mixed Chorus at Commencement exercises sang O Man Thy Grief and Sin and You'l1 Never Walk Alone . Special thanks to the Juniors for making it a night long to be remembered. V Wf Y, Zmgafify' Graduation night ----- it has finally arrived, How long we've wondered if it would ever get here, and at the same time have been so busy that we've hardly had time to breathe., What a queer mixture of thoughts we hold in our minds this glorious night. The sad and the glad, all mixed together in a hopeless jumble which we ourselves can't straighten out, even in our own minds. Really it's an end! As we think that we may never again see some of these people, we appreciate the good times and wonderful experiences that we have had with them. From here ----- our graduation ----- we'll go into the world and make new friends, but we'll never forget the friends and experiences of our high school days. Also, it's a beginning ----- a beginning of our life as adults. We may not yet be legally of age , but we're now about to begin making our mark in this world, and we're going to have to do so in an adult way, We realize this as we sit here listening to Mr. Grimes talk of the basic drives in life, As we think about it, we can see how some of our sadness is balanced by the thoughts of adventure and joy in what the future may hold, VALEDICTORIAN Sharon Zubler SALUTATORIANS Eldon Benedict Doreen Streeper 64 . , 'Ax , I 'I 1 ' I O .
