An evenly-matched game with Independence ended in a 6-0 defeat for the Panthers as Independence was held scoreless until on a fourth-down play in the final 20 seconds they scored. Against Tipton thc Panthers failed three scoring opportunities on the 1. 2 and 5 yard lines. Tipton won 6-0. Compensation for four scoreless games in a row was the '13-0 victory over Maquo- keta. Messerli. Rickels. Schneitcr. Appleby, and Schoenbeck all entered the scoring column, Anamosa. traditional rival and winner of the Wa'VIac crown was held by a scorc of 7-2 at the first half. with right end Jim Paulsen blocking a punt in the end zone for the two points. However. Anamosa went on to win 19-2. Left tackle lohn Schneiter was honored on thc All-WaMaC Sport Writers' first team. He also receixed honorable mention on the state team. On the WaMaC second team. Phil Dart was chosen at left end.
