i r Brd row Mr Eells, Raymond Hieniets, Berkley Holmes, Gene Kuehl, Betty Hoult, Bernice Schmidt 2nd row Gleason MCMlCD8S1, Miss Hood, Miss G Smith, Viss Cruise, Mariory Hoffman lst row Sally Otten, Clark Shannon, Louise York, Irma ch oon, Dick Sutherland, Herman Diers STUDENT COUNCIL The newly organized Student Counc'l of the Monticello Public Schools mane a direct con tributlon to the success of the 1944 1045 school year Organization meetings took a good share of the time of duose representatives chosen by the junior senior high school students However, several imoortant projects were ander taken during the second semester Probably the most important contribution the Student Council made toward bettering the school was the Safety Patrol The council members deemed it necessary to organize the patrol not only to protect the school children from possible accidents, but also thought it wise to create the patrol as an educational project on good citizenship A Sanitation bommlttee was appointed by Inma Schoon, Student Council presl dent, and this committee conducted an aggressive campaign against misuse of school oroperty and better care of the lockers This com lttee also urged Monti students to refrain from walking on the grass about the school The Bulletin Board Committee made the bulletin boards around the school more meaningful to the students, and they also made them much more attractive to the eye Irma Schoon, one of the junior representatives, was elected president of the Student Council with Dick Sutherland serving as vice president and Louise York as secretary trea surer Other delegates who served so well on the council are seniors, Selma Otten, Her man Diers, and Clark Shannon, juniors, Gene Kuehl, sophomores, Betty Hoult, and Raymond Rieniets, freshman, Bernice Schmidt, and Berkley Holmes, eighth, Marjorie Hoffman, seventh, Gleason McMichael, faculty, Miss Cruise, Miss G Smith, Miss Wood, and Mr Eells The l944 1945 charter members of the Monticello Student Council have attempted establish the groundwork on which future councils may help to make Monti High the best school in our country ill' I Fl 2 L r ' WIIWKI f Q cj x Qi!! ,Ti Ill - to ff' ' '- 71 I 4 It If-C t N f' 'I xl 1 L 9 X I . t T, 2 -1 . 4 mi 2 H 241'
