CLASS PROPHECY Well, I guess it's the gypsy in me--I don't know any other reason why they chose me to fore- tell the class prophecy. I will now gaze into this crystal ball to see what the future holds for this grand class of '57. Turn onward, turn onward Oh time in your flight Let me see the graduated of '57 Ten years from tonight! Here come figures into view! Let's see now. Are they housewives? Ruby Prichette is married and living with her husband in Leaks- ville. Mary Belle Johnson and her husband have built themselves a beautiful home near Reids- ville. The armed forces has its share, including Jerry Lee Apple, CecilAshley, and Wayne Brann. They are really making a career of it. Faye Greene is teaching voice lessons in Greensboro. Russell Barber is the owner and operator of an Esso Service Station in Gibsonville. The multi-millionaires are none other than Joe Bishop andMaynard I-Iuffines. I can say they surely know how to save money. Focused next in my crystal ball are some secretaries of our xormer class. I see Jackie Brown, Jean Wyrick, and Shelby Hardy working very hardat their typewriters. Geraldine Sutton is aprivate secretary for a large firm in Char- lotte. Three cheers for the athletes! Juanita Shel- ton, after attending Elon College is now instruc- tor at Woman's College. Thomas Austin and Jerry Faucette are playing on a well-known pro- fessional team after playing on the first line-up Amy Barber Class Prophet all four years of college. The man in the dark blue suit is Henry Lam- beth, a famous lawyer. I see Duke Wagoner and Jimmy Faucette living near Florida, where they are owners of a large clothing store. Shirley Brown and Glenda Murrell are teach- ing commercial subjects in a large school in California, Lloyd Tucker, who is our master farmer, lives near Fayetteville. H. S. Key is running a trucking business of his own. l see Naomi Hatcher working very hard in her florist shop in Reidsville. Douglas Wray is doing fine artistic work in New York. Karen Smith is teaching the Second grade while Rita Roach is teaching the fourth grade in one of North Car olina ' s largest Elementary Schools. Garnes Rumley, our only movie actor, has recently been wooing the ladies. After graduating from college, Sarah Sum- mers is working as a Home Demonstration Ag ent in Forsyth County. Everyone has faded away and gone about his bu sine s s , so I had better get back to my own work. What do I do? Well, I'm teaching piano lessons at my home near Burlington.

Sarah Summers Historian On September of 1952, thirty-eight boys and girls gathered on the pier prepared to start on a four year Cruise to Graduation Port. The main object of this Cruise was the pursuit of know- ledge. As our ship, the Mon-Echo, steamed out of Freshman Harbor, we got down to business, com- bining work with pleasure. We were fortunate in having Mr. Sills as our guide along with our officers for the Freshman journey. They were: President, Peggy Bashamg Vice President, Shir- ley Brown, S e c r e ta r y, Sarah Summersg and Treasurer, Shelby Hardy. For our motto we chose: Don't try dying, die trying, and for our class flower we chose the Gardenia. When we anchored in Sophomore Harbor there was a marked decrease in our number. After electing class officers which were, Presi- dent, Garnes Rumleyg Vice President, Jimmy Faucetteg Secretary, Raynita Conkling and Trea- surer, Lloyd Tucker, we settled down to a more peaceful journey in search of greater wisdom and understanding. Mr. Sills must have enjoyed our company so he again was our guide along with Mrs. Crutchfield. We stopped at Junior Port long enough to let a few students off and elect Rita Roach, Presi- dent: Jackie Brown, Vice Presidentg Shelby Hardy, Treasurerg andShirley Brown, Secretary. To work with us, we had Mrs. Sanders. , CLASS HISTORY Thirty started on the trip from Junior Port to Senior Harbor. There was a lot of hard work to be done before this trip was completed. Our Junior-Senior Banquet was held April 20, 1956, at Starmount Forest Country Club. This was very successful. Everyone enjoyed giving the Junior Play, Leave It To Us. I know that we will never forget the good time we had at Mrs. Sanders'house after the play. The highlight of our Junior year was when we received our class rings. Thirty proud Seniors reached Senior Harbor andproceeded on toward our goal. Student lead- ers were President, Rita Roachg Vice President, Henry Lambethg S e c r e t a r y and Treasurer, Glenda Murrell and Shirley Brown, and our ad- visor was Mr. Black. Inthis voyage our main objectives were the Senior play and publishing our annual, the Mon Echo. We began to look forward to the banquet, which the Juniors would give us and last but not least Graduation. We have finally reached the end of our voyage, anchored here in Graduation Port. I am sure we will never forget the past four years at M-H-S. Although, we may never have a place in History books, it will hold its place in the heart of each graduating Senior. We would like to thank our teachers, parents and friends for making this a very pleasant and successful journey.
