amz 71 As lsrt w1th1n a world of yesterday my thoughts begrn to wander back to the year of1940 Our frrst day at school was an excrtrng event As the years moved on thrngs became more excmng and before we LILLIAN MAYBERRY could realrze what was takrng place our grade school days had passed HISTORIAN We the Class of 52 have reason to be proud of our deeds that we have done rn the past twelve years In September 1948 we became Freshmen We were very proud of ourselves when we entered hrgh school Mrs H G Chapell was our homeroom teacher Management for that year was VannStanfreld Presrdent Freddy Murphy Vrce Presrdent Glorra Summers Secretary Lelra Chrrsmon Treasurer To represent our class rn the Annual May Day Glorra Summers was elected May Court attendant wrth Freddy Murphy as her escort As we entered rnto our Sophomore year we hoped for a more successful year then the past one Elect ed for management were John Rrchardson Presrdent Larry Summers Vrce Presrdent Joanne Bowman Secretary L1ll1an Mayberry Treasurer Our Sponsor for Ih1S year was Mrss Sarah Arnold untrl Chrrstmas then Mrss Mary Dosrer became our homeroom teacher Under therr gurdance we were able to be more frurtful and successful rn our Sophomore year That year our class had as our May Day Attendant Lelra Chrrsmon wrth her escort Larry Summers September 1940 was a brrght trme for everyone We entered our Junror year wrth much excrtement After electrng our class offrcers Presrdent Vann Stanfreld Vrce Presrdent Davrd Hopkrns Secretary Betty Jones and Treasurer Joanne Bowman we turned our mrnds to more rmportant work Our Junror year kept us very busy Mrss Nellre Webb was our homeroom teacher for our Junror year She was loved by all for her loyalty krndness and helpfulness whrch she shared w1th all of us Our brg thr1ll came when was a mystery Three Frngers rn the Door presented rn the school audrtorrum That year our class had as our May Day attendants Betty Jones wrth her escort Davxd Hopkrns and Joanne Bowman w1th her escort Od1s Gordon In the sprrng of that year near the closrng of school rt was our prrvrlege as Junrors to sponsor the annual Junror Senror banquet whrch we held at the Belvedere Hotel on Aprrl 13 1951 We had much pleasure on thrs occasron and rt brought us closer to the realrzatron that we were nearrng the end of our school term Our commencement marshalls were Jean Bowman chref Joanne Bowman Glorra Summers Mary Stanley and Betty Jones At last we have reached one of our goals that we have strrved for SIHCC we entered school we are SENIORS Our class offrcers for thrs our most rmportant year were Larry Summers Presrdent Davrd Rerd Hopkms Vice Presrdent Lrllran Mayberry Secretary Glorra Summers Treasurer We senrors decrded to present our semor play Take Your Medrcrne For the edrtor of our school paper The Star John Rrchardson was elected Our paper was rssued every SIX weeks Van Stanfleld was elected as edrtor of the 52 Mon Echo our school yearbook We semors had as our gurde Mrs Beatrrce R Hardre and Mr B U Whrte who helped us over many hardshrps and problems We shall never forget therr warm smrles that helped us along and the Jokes that Mr Whrte shared wrth everyone Thrs supposedly bemg the h1story of the Class of 1952 has been wrrtten for future reference concemrng the Class of 1952 Lrllran Mayberry Hrstorran vis I a .
