A MUSICA DE ESPANA Estudiantina is made up of: Antonieta Alvarez Adrian Aranda Liz Arriaga Antonio Arroyo Maria Arroyo Elvia Cervantes, Rene Espinosa, Isabel Estrada Ricardo Fisher Frank Fryer Maritza Fuentes Luis Gonzales Adriana Najera Lourdes Ramirez, Blanca Rodriguez, Monica Rubalcaba David Rubio Edna Serna Laura Serrano Isabel Velarde Advisor Ms. Murray. Estudiantina, the Spanish word for student, is a bilingual choir which has been in existence for six years here at Montgomery. Estudian- tina gives students an opportunity to develop their musical abilities, both vocal and instru- mental in addition to learning information about Mexican culture. The first estudiantinas began 400 years ago, where university stu- dents in Spain got together in the evenings and serenaded their girlfriends. With the turn of coeducation in school, girls have also joined estudiantinas. Capes, the formal attire, of the 1500's are still the most traditional uniforms.

VICTUR RGDRIGUEZ Aztec Of The Year This year, Victor Rodriguez, a deserving individual, was named Big Aztec On Campus. He was presented a trophy at an all-school assembly. Victor was well- known for his great contributions to the Metro Champion Aztec Soccer Team. ln recognition of his soccer skills, he was named first team, All-Metro Goalie, and first team, All-CIP Goalie in his junior year. His desire to boost his team brought him out of his glorious position to play on the field as a forward. His ability as a left wing contributed to this year's team effort to win another Metro banner. Victor Rodriguez's great skill, unselfishness, and school pride helped the Aztecs win Metro Championships for 3 consecutive years. Good Luck, Vic- tor, we are proud of you. A This year, clubs and organizations select male students to represent them. These students are chosen on the basis of the success in various sports and activities of which they are active participants. Many are outstanding players in their sports, others are school leaders and noted students. This year, the school was well-represented by five out- standing individuals. Victor Rodriguez-nominated by the Tonalamatl Annual Staff, Roger Rice-nominated by the ASB, Jonas Litonjua-nominated by the Key Club, James Garces-nominated by the Cheerleaders, and Denver Cruz-nominated by the Assembly Crew. 178 Big Aztec On Campus
