Zrfmmiffees THE CURRICULA AND INSTRUCTION COMMITTEE The Curricula and Instruction Committee is a committee that studies problems in higher education, it calls the attention of the faculty to new developments in collegiate education. THE STUDENT FACULTY SOCIAL COMMITTEE The Student Faculty Social Committee has members of the faculty and of the student body who have the final say in enforcing student rules whenever an occasion arises to do so. This com- mittee has the task of suspending organizations for breaking rulesg it lays down rules that aren't laid downg it is the supreme court of student affairs. THE STUDENT FACULTY RELATIONS COMMITTEE The Student Faculty Relations is a com- mittee composed of faculty members, appointed by the President and student members appointed by the president of the student body. THE BOARD OF PUBLICATIONS The Board of Publications is composed of the commissioner of publications, the president of the associated students, the editor-in-chief of each student publication recognized by the Senate, and the faculty advisor appointed by the President to each recognized student pub- lication. T' U16 THE STUDENT UNION BOARD The Student Union Board has been in effect since one and a half years before the Union opened for business in September 1940. The committee is composed of three faculty and three student members. This board has the responsibility of making policies for operation of the building. SECOND ROW, L. to R.: Hub White. THE BOOK STORE BOARD The Book Store Board has the responsibility of providing students with books of all kinds and descriptionsl Besides academic supplies, other small items that students are interested in are provided. The Book Store has its home in the Student Union: it is a student owned corporation, and all of the clerks are students.

FT? P. C. CAINES came to Montana State College in 1923 as an Instructor in Chemistryg in 1941 he was named Pro- fessor in that departmentg in 1946 he was promoted to Professor and Head of the Chemistry Department. Mr. Gaines was inaugurated as Vice Presi- dent in 1945. DR. ROLAND R. RENNE came to Montana State College in 1930. At that time he was Assistant Professor of Eco- nomicsg in 1935 he was promoted to Head of the Economics Departmentg and in 1939 he was Head of the Depart- ment of Agricultural Economics. On july 1, 1944, Dr. Renne was inaugurated President of Montana State College. The detailed and confining duties of his administration have not kept Dr. Renne from continuing his interest in outside affairs. He was appointed a member of the Water Resources Policy Commis- sion by President Trumang he was named a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Land-Grant Col- leges and Universities. Dr. Renne has proven himself an able administrator with big plans for the future of the school.
