To Dr. A. Leroy Strand, our tirst alumnus President, we dedicate this book. He is a truly Montana product, having graduated trom Helena l'1iah School in 1913, and from Montana State Colleqe in 1917. Aspirations tor a hiqher education led him to take his Master's deqree in Entomoloqy from Minnesota in 1925, and his Doctor's dearee three years later. 1-le then returned to his alma mater where he he- came head ot the entomoloqy department.
