X 9 H ml J X .J V s Class Prophecy Here we are Lad1es and Gentlemen, at the 1960 reun1on of the graduatlng class of 1956 from Monroe H1gh School Let s wander through the crowd and see 1f we can f1nd anyone we know Now here 15 a fam1l1ar face I m sure you all know M1ss V1ClCl Spachner, the greatest p1an1st s1nce L1berace She has her own telev1s1on program V1ClCl s Key Board All you bachelors take heed as yet M1ss Spachner IS not marr1ed and as you can see, It s not because of her looks Now for th1s next ce1ebr1ty we w1ll have to go over to the pool Yes, you ve guessed It It s the famous sw1mm1ng star, Betty Howsmon Betty tell us how It feels to have been the only person to sw1m Lake Super1or I 11 let you 1n on a l1ttle secret, Betty told me she plans to do another mov1e soon The name of It w11l be Saturn s Darhng And here Lad1es and Gentlemen, 1S Mrs Amer1ca of 1960 Madge Gall1more Madge marr1ed one of her fellow classmates Jonas, and they have two lovely ch1ldren Jonas 1S play1ng basket ball w1th the Dayton Flyers but now he has to watch the k1ds wh1le Madge travels over the country These two gentlemen here are Professor O1ler and Tom Reed Professor O1ler 15 now a teacher at Oh1o State Uruvers1ty and 15 still a bachelor Tom Reed 1S the mult1m1l11onare, who bought the West1nghouse plant 1n Columbus and remodeled It 1nto a hotel Look who Just walked 111. Class History The Semors of 1956 started out the1r Journey of twelve years 1n school1n 1944 Only s1x of our present class started out 1n the frrst grade together They are Madge Galhmore Betty Howsmon, Mary Prudum .Toe Sanders, Tom Reed and Wayne D1ll1on Jo1n1ng the class 1n the second grade was Alan D1ll1on In the second grade also V1ck1 Spachner Jo1ned us com1ng from the elementary school 1n Columbus Charles O1ler Jo1ned us 1n the f1fth grade and 1n the seventh grade Nancy Streator came to us from West Jefferson Jonas Fraley Jo1ned us 1n our Freshman year, com 1ng from Rosedale Darrell Kllgore was the last to Joxn us dur1ng our seruor year He came from Meade Memor1a1 School 1n Kentucky In the sports f1eld we were very fortunate dur1ng our Jumor H1gh years In the seventh grade we placed f1rst 1n the basketball tournament, and 1n the e1ghth grade we placed second Dur1ng our H1gh School years we have had great fun In the fall of our Freshman year our annual Freshman 1mt1at1on was held We real mce we1ner roast at the home of one of the semors Mary A Howsmon Our Sophmore year our Enghsh teacher Mrs Puckett helped us pubhsh the school newspaper Dur1ng the year we sponsored var1ous th1ngs to make money Agaln 1n our .Tumor year we were maklng money Dur1ng the year we found a n1ce way to spend part of our money Th1s was by g1v1ng the Sen1ors a n1ce banquet Fo1low1ng the banquet everyone had a good mme e1ther by go1ng to Valley Dale or to a show Then to our Sen1or year, whlch we had all been lookmg forward to and have en Joyed so much Fou.r of our class took the Sen1or Scholar sh1p tests g1ven 1n London They were Betty Howsmon, V1c1u Spachner Tom Reed and Wayne D1lhon Instead of Freshman 1n1t1at1on th1s year the teachers gave the lugh school lads a very n1ce party at the Park 1n Mechamcsburg Other events of the year are the class play magaz1ne sale semor dance, banquet, and our tr1p to Columbus to have our p1ctures taken, and f1nal1y the Comm1ncement and graduatlon Then we are all lookxng forward to our class tr1p all dressed up in funny clothes. Later that evening the seniors treated us to a . , . , .
