Although the Monona Grove football team lost its first game to Greenfield 19-7, the rest of the season was flawless. Early in the season, the team showed its strength by defeating jefferson 20- 7. Midway into the football season, Monona Grove met the co-leader of the Badgar Conference, Sun Prairie. The thrilling, mud soaked game ended in a 14-13 win for Monona Grove. With sole leadership of the conference, the team easily defeated the rest of their opponents . E GLES IN ACTIO

CROSS CGLINTRY The cross country squad, though small in number, was big in spirit and determination. Sixteen boys carried the banner for MG and did a commendable job The fellows selected Larry Hanson as their captain. Their season record Was: Sept. 17 Win over Monroe 26-33 25 10th of 19 schools, Madison West Invitational 28 Triangular--Stoughton 233 M G 403 Jefferson 70 Oct. 1 Loss to Madison East 25-36 5 Triangular--Oregon 233 MG 49: Sun Prairie 50 9 15th of 19 schools, Hartford Invitational 16 Conference Meet, 4th Place 23 WIAA Sectional, 4th of 12 schools Phil Raynoha was selected as the outstanding runner. He qualified for the state meet as an individual, the team missed qualifying by one place. Phil was also elected captain of next year's team.
