Dur1ng 1948 the Vocatlonal Agr1cu1ture Department put 1nto operatlon a v1gorous and comprehens1ve program of 1nstruct1on and commun1ty serv1ce Th1s program 1n Cluded the construct1on of a two classroom bu11d1ng w1th a large workshop attached 1mprovement of courses of study and 1n struct1on methods the des1gnat1on of the department as a pract1ce teach1ng center by both the Un1vers1ty of Arkansas and Arkansas State College the construct1o1 of four large t1le bu1ld1ngs for the farm to house machlnery hvestock poultry the annual Buffalo Island Fa1r and aworkshop for farmers the sett1ng up and carry1ng through of ademonstrat1on farm GLENN L CAMPBELL Head Instructor and cattle crop work cons1st1ng of var1ety and fert1l1zer tests for cotton corn soybeans and vegetables and cult1vat1on and other management de monstratxons Agr1cultural and educatxonal leaders such as Ralph .Tones C R Wllkey Mar1on Adams George Sullards Dr W .T Edens Dr Hud son from the Un1vers1ty of Arkansas and lVIart1n Zook of Memphls had h1gh pra1se for the department at the ded1cat1on day held last July We have the most outstand1ng program of 1tS k1nd 1n th1s part of the nat1on These accomp11shments were p0SS1b16 because of unt1r1ng efforts and co operatlon of many C1t1ZenS 1n the Monette area F1na1ly we must po1nt out the excellent work and cooperat1on of the farm veterans lnstructors wh1ch has made the growth of the veterans program to second largest 1n the state poss1b1e.
