IUNIOR CLASS HISTORY The present Junior Class entered M. U. H. S. in 1946 with an enrollment of 103. Qf course, there were the usual trials of every Freshman and it took a few days to get accustomed to the high school routine. But soon came that eventful dai' of our first class meeting. lVe assembled and became dignified long enough to select Vance Philpot, for our President: Bob Sandgren, Vice-President: Helen VVrolstad, Secretary: Lois Boyd, Treasurer: and Joe Gribble, Executive Commit- teeman. ' Vllhen we appeared on the scene the next fall, we were no longer lowly Rooks sitting shyly in the back seats of the assembly hall but were able to claim our rightful places as Sophomores. lt was this year we entrusted our class leadership to: Pat Magill, President: David Patterson. Vice-Presidentg Pat Or- cutt. Secretaryg and Joann Freeman, Treasurer. The advisors were Mr. Lee and Mr. Havlic. This year as Upper Classmen we have already done many things that any class could well be proud of. The show Jack London presented by the class. was enjoyed by every student. Five of our group: Vance Philpot, Beverly Chind- gren. Bill Monroe, Pat Orcutt, and Buzz Wlheatley, were chosen to take part in the Student Body Play. The Junior names appearing on the Honor Roll are: Harry VVright, Donald Day, Ruth Vklalch, Pat Magill, David Patterson, Helen VVrolstad, Barbara Russell, Grant Shiewe, and Buzz XVheatley. It is evident that we have beauty as well as brains in our class. Both of our candidates for the F.F.,ffX. Amateur Hour have been elected queensiLois Boyd in our Freshman year, and Fat Magill our Sophomore class. In 1947 one of our classmates, Beverly Chindgren, was chosen March of Dime queen and in our Junior year Pat Orcutt received this honor. From our entrance in High School many of our boys have taken an active part in sports. This year the following athletes are outstanding: Gordon Gallacci Leonard Staudinger Joe Gribble Donald Day Bill Harper George Kirk Ancel Reisch jim Lais Bob Sandgren Raymond Poppe Loren Shouthwell Grant Shiewe Roy Speights Buzz Wheatley
