SoloisTs were Raymond Mar- owe, Eugene Pearson, bariTone, WiniTred Lucia Fisher, conTralTo and Frances Bowerman, soprano Trom The College oT PaciTic. Twelve college sTudenTs par- TicipaTed. During The spring, McKnighT, The direcTor, sang a solo parT in an oraTorio presenTed by chorus aT Oregon STaTe College. Madonna's Requiem Mass was The oraTorio given Novem- ber I7, I935 aT The MeThodisT Church Tor The annual iunior col- lege presenTaTion. The chorus, consisTing oT TiTTy- Tive well-blended voices, gave a highly crediTable performance. Solos were Tew, a guarTeT being TeaTured insTead, singing and answered by The chorus. The guarTeT was composed oT Georgia Parker, soprano: Alice Larsen, conTralTo: l-loward l-lale, Tenor, l-lerman Kliclc, bariTone. RoberT McKnighT direcTed The perTormance. Especially ouTsTanding in The musical programs oT The Glee clubs oT The Junior College were The members oT The OraTorio's quarTeT. In his characTerizaTion oT The queen's much-married husband, Bob Eley became a lovable, kind- ly man, whose Twin passions were penguins and checkers. His in- valuable buTler, Phipps lcludd STurTevanTl aided him in This lasT named oT his weaknesses. The Tyrannizing consorT was Evelyn BarneTT, who demanded marriage oT her daughTer, Anne llsabel Walshl To Toppish William oT Greck, convincingly done by Ed Perry. The queen was aided in her plans by General NorThrup, a Mussolini-HiTler Type, played by Lee Clark and Lord BirTen, a suave diplomaT enacTed by George lvlaze. King Eric revealed his True naTure when daughTer Anne Tell in love wiTh his secreTary, GranTon lhflaurice CorbeTTl. Then, in The Tinal acT, puncTuaTed by cannon shoT, he Took The governmenT inTo his own hands and demanded ThaT Anne leave wiTh GranTon, Thus happily climaxing The drama. Minor roles were well-played by John Den Dulk, AlTred WhiT- man, Lee VincenT, Alice Collins and Alice Frederiksen. GRAND FINALE OF THE QUEEN'S HUSBAND
