Swimmers Offer Stiff Competition M.H.S, finmen opened the season with two practice meets which they lost to Downey and Lodi. Their first conference meet was won over Franklin with the A's winning 62-22 and the B's 57-19. The team is a little weak this year because of the shortage of veteran material. There are many freshmen and sophomores this year that may help mold a strong swimming team for next year. There are tour A's from last year's varsity squad. They are Robert Preston, Carl Peck, James McGowen, and Adolph Hurliman, At the time the SYCAMORE went to press, the T959 swimming season looked promising. Golf, Diving Stress.Form, Finesse The M.H.S. diving team has a good many excellent prospects this year. In the A division there are two juniors who are excellent choices to win the conference and sectional championships. The B squad is composed of almost all sophomores. These men are showing great promise, and if they continue to work hard, any one of them could possibly be a winner in the conference or sectional meet. The new talent, composed of freshmen and sophomores, has been working hard to make the team and no doubt this-young talent will score well for M.H.S, sometime in the future.
