The fwo groups, 'lo which every Modesfo High sfudenl belongs, were again ably advised by Mrs. Grelchen Smilh and Wesley Pugh. A. Under 'rhe leadership of Marilyn Maxwell and Ferris Boolhe, lhe cabi- nels slarled fhe Fall semesler wilh parries for freshmen and lranslers. Dur- ing fhe foolball season, +he organizalions sold candy, pom-poms and yarn dolls lo raise money wilh which lo finance a series of mon'l'hly aflernoon dances. The annual chariiy drives a+ Thanksgiving and Chrislmas reached a new high wilh forly-six complele meals and more fhan one hundred dollars being conlribufed by lhe sludenls. The Fall semesier was climaxed wilh a high-powered March of Dimes drive which ended wiih lasl' year's mark of S203 being lopped by five dollars. Marjorie Rifchie and Dewey Mclsaac fool: over ihe 'reins in February and confinued an aclive program. Incoming freshmen were enlerlained and enlighlened al lhe beginning of lhe Spring sernesier. Leap Year Day was celebraled by a special edilion of a paper called Cupid's Gazelle, and an aflernoon dance, while May Day was duly noled by 'lhe sale of corsages made by 'rhe League. Several hundred molhers received corsages, food and enlerlainmenl. Afler weelcs of rehearsals, 'lhe annual varie'l'y show, direcled by Joy Smilh, was presenled ai ihe end of May.
