MARIAN AS In the late Winter, spring, and summer of l944 the MOBILE participated in actions scattered Widely across the Pacific. During this period the large areas of the Western Pacific were Wrested from lap control and the re- maining islands so immobilized and isolated as to make them Worthless. Carrier tactics and logistics were per- fected to the highest degree and the superiority of the American Navy established beyond doubt. All these actions had as their focal points the occupation of Guam, Tinian, Saipan, and Palau.
