FOOTBALL First Row — Short, Powell, Coach Hodges, Turner, Merrill Second Row — Lee, Calicott, Coons, Bolin, Winkler, Hammitt, Wheeler, Manager Some of the Junior High boys did a bang up job on the Moberly High School football team this year. Tommy Short played every game as regular center on the team, while Piz Winkler and Romaine Hammitt took turns at quarterback. Jerry Bolin, a ninth grader, looked like great football material at tackle. The very capable manager of the 1947 team was 10th grader, Howard Wheeler. The season was disappointing with only two wins, but everyone expects a top team next year. The scores for this 1947 season were: 0- Moberly Moberly Moberly 7 - Moberly 6- Moberly 12- Moberly 7- Moberly 7- Moberly 0- -Kirksville 6 -Fulton 7 -M. S. DRAGON TIMES jB QB 9 |B 9 First Row — D. McKiernan, Graves, Miss Sheahan, Sullivan, Holman Second Row — Wolfe, Kessler, Myers, Burrell, Yaeger, Hamp+on, Sims, Clutch, B. McKiernan Third Row — Leavene, Powell, Kemper, Osterloh, Finnel, Cnvalier, Griffiths, Powell I We received our first school paper the Dragon Times today. Three cheers for the paper! We really like all the newsy information about our school and school chums, and the write-ups of assemblies and sports. But especially we all favor the Gossip Column. The officers are: Gloria Sims, President; Bill Osterloh, Vice-President; Jimilee Chevalier, Secre- tary; Harriett Griffith, Treasurer. They have really done a good job. 25
