Combat Systems De partment CF Division The Fire Controlmen that make up CF Division have received extensive training to maintain and operate the most technologically advanced shipboard weapons system in the world- the AEGIS weapons system. The AWS is the heart of MITSCHER ' s offensive and defensive Air-Warfare capabilities, and also com- prises elements that assist in all of MIT- SCHER ' s other warfare areas such as subsurface and strike warfare. CF Divi- sion also includes highly skilled Phalanx technicians who maintain and operate the Phalanx Close-in Weapons System. The CIWS is a dependable AAW system that ensures enemy aircraft or missiles never endanger MITSCHER and it ' s crew. The AEGIS weapon system, the Phalanx weapon system, and other so- phisticated warfare systems installed aboard MITSCHER make her the most powerful, capable warship ever built. FCl John D.
