LUDR ll. 61011111311 Upon his graduation in 1965 from Pennsylvania State University, where he received a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. LCDR Gehman initially served as DCA and MPA on the USSENGLISH QDD-6961. In November of 1967 he assumed the duties of Officer in Charge of PGF-27, a Swift Boat stationed in the Danang River, Vietnam. He attended Naval Destroyer School in 1969 and was subsequently assigned to the USS JOHN KING QDDG-SD as Engineering Officer. LCDR Gehman reported to MITSCHER in April, 1971. He departed in March, 1973, to become Admira1's aide to Deputy Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. LT B. Il. Patton LT Bob R. Patton attended the University of Kentucky in 1962 prior to entering the U.S. Naval Academy. Sub- sequent to his graduation from the Academy in june, 1967, he served as First Lieutenant and Weapons Officer in USS STEINAKER CDD-8635. After attending U.S. Naval Destroyer School, LT Patton returned to sea duty in May, 1970, as Weapons Officer aboard USS STRIBLING KDD-8671. In july 1971 LT Patton became the Engineering Officer of the pre-commissioning crew of USS FAIRFAX COUNTY CLST-11935. He remained in that billet until he reported aboard MITSCHER in February.
