THE CALL OF THE CLASSROOM Hour after hour, day after day, students and teachers struggle through lectures in stuffy classrooms and auditoriums for 16 weeks each semester, and they call this the best years of our life? Through Calculus, Physics, and a host of other lectures which are the backbone of the academic climate at UMR, students spend endless hours absorbing the vast quantity of information presented in class, even when this means trudging sleepily to 7:30 classes taught by teachers who actually enjoy getting up that early. Occasionally spring fever would tempt industrious students to skip that late afternoon class — just this once, and teachers noted an increase in absenteeism as the semester drew to a close, but the ever-resourceful students continued to survive UMR, even with occasional absences from class. A cup of coffee helps even Mechanical Engineering professor Dr. Robert Medrow get motivat- ed for class. Students find they must concentrate on Dr. Ibrahim Adawi ' s lecture in Atomic and Nuclear Physics, also known as A-Bomb.
