All we have to do is to sit down and talk about it. OZARKO: What was your first impression of SMS? DR. MALLORY: I am an alumnus of this insti- tution, having graduated in 1954. When I start- ed to school here in the summer of 1951, SMS was not like a new institution to me because I played basketball here when I was in high school at Buffalo. But when I returned to the college as President in 1964, there was a good deal of un- easiness on college campuses that was not prev- alent in the 50'sg and, of course, I immediately had an affection for the college. It was my school, the college was a pleasant place for me. The first year was a time when I had to work closely with as many people as possible - facul- ty and students alike. I had a lot of proving 1 do. I think people wanted to see what I was lik so during the course of the first several montl it was a matter of my trying to establish who was, what I believed, and letting people see n and see what I wanted to do. OZARKO: Then your impression has n changed over the years? DR. MALLORY: It has only grown fonder an better, yes. OZARKO: VVhen you came to SMS, what wel your goals, and do you feel that you have accon plished them?
