College yearbooks, like the friendships of which they remind us, grow steadily in our appreciation as the years go by. So long as we have the living realities of our friends and classmates close about us we are unmindful of the full significance of a volume of this sort. With the relentless passing of the years our college friends disperse to their diverse destinies and then we perceive the true meaning of our memory book . Realizing the true meaning of this type of publication our college inaugurated a yearbook very early in its history. The first volume was published in l909. Happily, the original volume bore the very appro- priate title of OzarkO which the publication still carries. The original annual was christened by a bit of verse from the pen of Ralph Anderson, distinguished debater, class orator, star athlete, and member of the first 0zarkO staff. This literary effort which follows has gathered through the intervening years an additional claim to immortality in the form of historical value. Here the people, peaceful neighbors, seem to gather as they go Common sense with education, 'til they soon begin to know That the grandest land in all the world is that of OZARKO. No intelligent and thorough study of the history of the college can be made without frequent reference to the OzarkO. May it con- tinue to record the historical heart beats of the institution. We
