“Yearbook Specifications The 1984 Ole Miss was produced by rhe University of Mississippi Yearbook staff and printed offset on Meads 80 pound high-gloss double-coated paper by Taylor Publishing Company of Dallas, Texas in cooperation with Taylor Publishing Company representatives Jimmy Underwood, Nicky Drake and Nancy Jones. Press run was 6500 copies. COVER: The cover was designed by Elizabeth Bowman. A full-scale mock-up was produced by Jim Alexander of Taylor Publishing Company. Composed of 15 point binder board, rhe cover material is white durolith embossed. Colors used were red #030, white #911 and blue #017. Doth the cover and rhe spine are blind embossed. Trim size is 9x12. On the cover are six four-color pictures token by Walt Mixon and Elizabeth Bowman. ENDSHEETS: The endsheets are of 65 pound V.C. Parchment weight Stock printed in several styles as listed here: Division pages Helvetica Medium outline,- Closing Palatine Bold; Humor Palatino Bold. PHOTOGRAPHY: A 150-line screen was used for 4-color photography with color separation done by laser. A 133-line screen was used for block and white photography. Walt Mixon, head photographer rook the majority of the photographs. Other photographers were Art Huggins, Jimmy Blackwood, Robert Jordan, and Charles Griffin. Jock Coefield photographed rhe Hall of Fame recipients for the Honors section. BUDGET: The estimated cost of the 1984 Ole Miss was $82,000.00 with the estimated cost per book being $12.42. Through student activity fee, each student paid that price for rhe Ole Miss. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Special thanks are given to Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Muths of Gulfport for their assistance in organizing rhe beauty pictures,- to Bob Towery and Frances Vanlandingham for their time and interest in the 1984 Old Miss; and to Jimmy Underwood, Taylor representative, for his assistance in the publication of the 1984 Ole Miss.
