Schram, Page Twenty-one SENIOR CLASS HI TORY As our Senior year draws to an end we look back on our first day of school and think of the happy years of fun and study. On Sept. 4, i957, MHS opened its doors to ninety-eight freslgmen, the largest class in school- At our first class meeting, Mrs. Ackerman, our class advisor, presided over the meeting until Otto Schultz Jr. was elected president. Other officers were Vice-President, Joyce Wilson, Secretary, Don- na Koch, Treasurer, Patsy Shillcox. Diane Parizek, Wayne Huntington and Diane Rief were to repre- sent us on the Student Council. Kathleen Schad was chosen as freshman reporter for the Oriole. We gave various dances throughout the year. One was given for the Sophomores thanking them for the Freshman Initiation Dance which everyone enioyed so very much. Our float entitled We've Got The Winning Com- bination, which we entered in the Homecoming Parade, won second place. Ronnie Olewinski, Jimmy Dvorak, Kathy Eckardt and Diane Rief were on the Snowman Ball Court. Shirley Dvorak, Diane Parizek, Russel Straka, and Eugene Troullier were on the Sweetheart Dance Court. With these fond memories, we left behind our Freshman year and entered into our Sophomore year at the new MHS. Here we met two new class advisors, Miss Roth and Mr- Hollenbeck. Our new class officers were, President, James Samz, Vice- President, Dick Specht, Secretary, Jackie Schramm, Treasurer, Judy Popelar. Our Student Council members were Beverly Hallada, Kathleen Schad, and Russel Straka. Again we won second place on our Homecom- ing float, We'll Swallow Everything But De-Feet. Sophomores participating in the one act play, Sunday's Child, were Jackie Schramm and Ron- ald Mueller. ln the all school play, Brother Goose, Janice Beeck, Carol Levenhagen, Judy Popelar, Diane Yo- hanek and Ronald Mueller were the participants. We were very active in outside activities which made us extremely proud of our class. September of 1959 found us as Juniors, with Mr. Barlow and Miss Roth as our advisors. Class officers for our big year were: President and Prom King, Pat Finnel, Vice-President, Russel Straka, Secretary, Diane Parizek, Treasurer, Jackie Schrimm. Student Council members were Dick Specht, Jim Dvorak and Ken Haen. Diane Rief was Homecoming Queen and Jackie Schramm was on the Court of Honor. Our float, Let's Cut To Victory, won second prize. Diane Yohanek was elected to become co-editor of the Oriole- Ann Marie Schram and Ronald Mueller repre- sented us in the one act play. On May 21, 1960, our prom was held with the theme being Moonlight And Roses. Bob Mlada provided the music and King Pat Finnel and Queen Jackie Schramm reigned over the affair. Diane Yohanek and Glenn Schmidt represented our class at Badger Girl and Badger Boy State. At last we enter our Senior year when everyone is happy. Again' we meet new advisors-Mr. Stan- gle and Mrs. Schultz. Officers for our last year at MHS are President, Glenn Schmidt, Vice-President, Gilbert Pilon, sec- retary, Judy Popelar, Treasurer, Beverly Hallada. Carol Levenhagen and Donna Wentker were elected editors of the annual and Diane Yohanek editor-in-chief of the Oriole. Diane also received the DAR award. Carol Levenhagen received the Betty Crocker award. Janice Beeck, Gilbert Pilon and Allen Strutz were elected to serve on the Student Council. Let's Soap Luxemburg, our Homecoming float, gave us a second prize. Basketball season brought on cheerleading try- outs and Jackie Schramm was elected to the A squad. lt is with regret that we put an end to the four wonderful years at MHS but we leave behind happy memories as we look forward to a bright future. The MJDA is an important part of the Vo-Ag program and consists of students who are carrying out a program of dairy herd improvemient in their home herd. By carrying out such a program, they are able to determine the production of the indi- vidual cows in order that poor producers may be culled from the herd, replacement stock can be selected from dams with good production, a sys- tematic program of feeding according to produc- tion can be followed and close records can be kept on the breeding programs. The Mishicot Association is affiliated with the Wisconsin Jr. Dairymen's Association and partici- pates actively in their program of work. Delegates Roy Hoffman, Gerald Sneberk, Francis Shimanek, and Paul Funk attended the District Convention at Omro, Wisconsin on March 21. Allen Strutz com- peted in the extemporaneous speaking contest at that convention. Delegates will also attend the State Convention and Dairy Show which will be heli at Marshfield, Wisconsin on June 19th and 201' . Page Thirty-eight XX 'Q M us, . The presentation was directed by Mr. Sanford Wolfmeyer, assisted by stage manager Mr. David Kelley and Janice Beeclc, choreographer. The active students in the cast were Beverly Hal- lada, Kathy Schad, Nancy Princl, Judy Popelar, Judy Bergman, David Nimmer, Tom Tuschl, Bob Hess, Bill Wilford, Dan Urban, Susan Stelzer, Wayne Eggert, Glenn Schmidt, Roxie Ross, Mary Lee Brouchoud, Barbara Meyer, Judy Kempen, Connie Schuler, Ramona Genrich, Mary Genrich, Mary Bergner, Rita Benzinger, Diane Princl, Sue Hoff- man, Virgil Peters, and a featured combo consist- ing of the band director, Mr. De Lyle Henschel-trom- bone, Becky Grimmer-cornet, Larry Thiel-clarinet, Dan Urban-percussion, Janice Beeck-sax, and Carol Levenhagen on piano. The first act opened revealing a .simple typing layout with four girls combining typing and vocal talent in beat to the selection I'm Going To Sit Right Down and Type Myself A Letter . This was followed by a baseball scene portraying the song, You Gotta Ha-ve Heart , which was interrupted by a monologue of Casey At The Bat , pantomin- ed by a group of boys. After this scene was a take-off on The Price Is Right with Glenn Schmidt doing a splendid imitation of Mr. Stangel. lt seems Mr. Stangel has a manner all of his own when it comes to teaching. Everyone seemed to enjoy it no end. Following this was a western scene featuring a selection by the combo. Carol Levenhagen also did a pleasing number entitled The Lonely Goathead. This scene was concluded by another vocal selec- tion My Old Home Town done bylJudy Bergman. The final scene opened revealing an elaborate Hawaiian setting. Three parts of this scene were vocal duets done by Janice Beeck and Carol Le- venhagen, followed by a Hawaiian Hands number done in absolute darkness with the exception of an ultra-violet light which revealed only the move- rrlents of white, gloved hands. This was done in rhythm to In The Middle Of An Island. The last performance of this scene' was a character dance, Sailor Boy done by Barbara Meyer and Mary Lee Brouchoud, The entire production of Night For Frolic was concluded by a spectacular finale consisting of the entire cast. This tri- weeky publication has a three column page with print appearing on both sides. The newspaper is under the supervision of our advisor, Miss Theison. News is reported by organization, club, and spe- cial reporters. The news items are given to the typists for dummy copying. They return the articles to the proofreaders to be proof read. The articles are then arranged on the pages by the make-up editors. The paper takes a more definite pattern after ii is returned to the typists for stencling. Next, art work is added to give an extra touch. Afer the stencil is proof read, it is mimeographed. Then the paper is ready to be put together to be passed out to the students and teachers. Jackie Schramm Page Seventy SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Right after graduation I promised myself that, after my first million was made, I would take a tour of the world and look up all my old classmates. Ten years after graduation, as I boarded the train at San Francisco, I happened to glance at the engineer. To my surprise it was Jerry Pravechek. As I entered the dining room, I was greeted by Robert Bonfigt, acting porter. After a conversation with Bob, I sat down and ordered my din- ner. Taking my order was Virginia Pickard. She said I should come back to the kitchen and talk to the chief cook who was Mary Kay Kocian. I asked Mary what lone Mleziva was doing period. She said she was happily married and living in Chicago. My next stop was El Paso. As I was walking down main street I saw a saloon named Dvorak's Palace. As I walked in I saw Hilary Gretz and Stanley Grimm playing poker. I sat down and had a soda. Kathy Schad, Carol Eis, and Mary Lou Valenta were dancing on the stage. Talking about dancing, Janice Beeck is now head of the Arthur Murray Studios. As evening approached, I rented a room at the Blue House, owned and operated by Robert Blattler. Ronald Siehr was bell boy and Joyce Wilson was head maid. That night I ran into Dennis Neuser. He was going down to Argentina to enter a championship chess game. Next morning I hopped a plane for Pennsylvania. Eu- gene Tollefson was the pilot and Susan Stelzer was airline hostess. Upon arrival I iumped into a taxi, Bill Peroutka was the driver, and went downtown. That night I heard the Globe Trotters were in town. Dennis Ullman was the latest addition and was doing real well. After I got back to my hotel l flipped on the TV and there he was, Allen Strutz, playing the piano on the Lawrence Welk Show. I left Pennsylvania the next day and set my sights on Paris. In Paris I found Carol Levenhagen teaching in one of the Universities. I also met Judy Popelar and Nancy Princl taking a tour of Paris. Jackie Schramm had a book published there. The name of it was THE LIFE I LEAD. While in Paris I was accused of robbing a bank. I was released promptly when I found out the chief of police was Ralph Hagenow, assisted by Leroy Vanderkinter. I left Paris and headed back for the United States by boat. On the boat I met the famous inventor Wayne Eg- gert. He gained his fame by inventing a talking machine. Wayne was having his invention guarded by that great detective Jim Samz and his assistant Eugene Andres. They told me Susan Rezek was downstairs on her honeymoon. We went upstairs to meet the skipper who was Ronald Mueller. After arriving at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, I switched boats and headed down toward Manitowoc. On the way I found Norman Loeh taking care of a light house. I met James Rasmussen and Robert Grimm working as sailors. Donna Wentker was a waitress on one of the boats. I finally made it back to Manitowoc. There I found out Audrey Kobes was a secretary at Erdman Motors. Barry Grimmer was head of Point Beach Park. Gene Hagenow was manager of Piggly Wiggly.
