HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF i960 On September 9, 1956, Mishicot High School opened its doors to 92 wide-eyed freshmen, who were to compose one of the most energetic classes M. H. S. had ever seen. Class officers and Student Council members were elected under the direction of our new advisor, Mr. Halada. Jean Eis was elect- ed president of the freshman class. Other officers were: vice-president, James Krause, secretary, Judy Guex, treasurer, Sandra Demsien. Student Council members were Judith Dvorak, Lillian Rief, and Rich- ard Kasmer, Homecoming proved to be the big event for the freshmen. Not only did our float Let's Take 'Em For a Ride! win first prize in the parade, but a freshman, Judy Guex, was elected Homecoming Queen. Jean Eis and Janice Saubert were on the court. Judy Dvorak, Sandra Demsien and Jean Eis were elected B team cheerleaders. Representing our class in the all-school play, Cheaper by the Dozen were Frank Feit and Gary Haelfrisch. Judy Dvorak received a second on her twirling solo at the State Music Contest. In September of T957 we found ourselves as Sophomores with a new advisor, Mr. Peters. Offi- cers were as follows: president, James Krause, vice- president, Richard Kasmer, secretary, Joan Skatrud, and treasurer, Diane Augustine. Sylvan Novak, Frank Fe-it, and Jean Eis represented our class on the Student Council. Homecoming found us winning first prize again on our float, Let's Break the Record! Judy Dvorak, Joan Skatrud and Jean Eis were on the court. Basketball season brought on the cheerleading tryouts with Verna Duveneck and Nancy Tuschl being elected B team cheerleaders. Sandra Dem- sien, Judy Dvorak and Jean Eis were promoted to A team cheerleaders. Twirling tryouts resulted in the selection of Jean Eis and Sandra Demsien as twirlers and Judy Dvorak as maiorette. On January 4, Judy Dvorak was crowned Princess of the Snowman's Ball. Sophomores on the court were Doug Jansky, Diane Augustine, Jim Krause, Jean Eis, Diane Reuther and Janice Saubert. Judy Dvorak was chosen to attend the University of Wisconsin Summer Music Clinic at Madison. Barbara Reis represented our class at the State Forensics Contest. September of i958 found us as Juniors with two new advisors, Mr. O'Rourk and Mr. Johnstone. Offi- cers for our big year were: president and Prom King, Richard Kasmer, vice-president, Judy Dvorak, secretary, David Lukes, and treasurer, Mary Ben- zinger. Student Council members were Jerry Denor, Jean Glaser and Nancy Tuschl. Class rings, homecoming float and prom court were the main topics of conversation. Winning the third year in succession was our float Toast to the Team. On January 28, the Juniors sponsored a rock 'n roll dance featuring the Glaciers. Blue Hawaii, the theme of the Junior Prom, was the highlight of the year, with the Balladaires furnishing the music. Richard Kasmer, as Prom King selected Judith Dvorak as his Queen. Judy Dvorak and Sandra Demsien competed in the State Music Tournament with their twirling duet. Dick Blank and Sandra Demsien attended the an- nual Summer Music Clinic. Jim Krause, Nancy Tuschl, and Richard Blank werea in the One Act Play while Gary Haelfrisch, Sandy Demsien and Nancy Tuschl were in the All School Play. Judy Dvorak and Richard Blank represented our school at Badger State. The Senior year again found us meeting new class advisors, Mr. Stangel and Mrs. Schultz. Offi- cers elected were: president, David Lukes, vice- president, Myron Schuler, secretary, Betty Zemanp and treasurer, Janice Saubert. Student Council mem- bers were Nancy Tuschl, and Bonnie Grimm with Verna Duveneck as president. Work began on the Arrow, with Judy Dvorak and Joan Skatrud as editors, and the Oriole, with Barb Reis as editor-in-chief. With Frank Feit as Homecoming King, the Class of 1960 made history with a 45-0 victory at our last Homecoming game. By winning first on our float, Scanning for Victory , we now hold an unbeatable record of four firsts. Serving on the Homecoming Court were Sylvan Novak, Dick Kasmer, Ray Kiel, Bill Schmoock, Jim Finnel, Doug Jansky, Paul Shi- mek, Jay Princl, Judy Dvorak, Sandy Demsien, Joan Skatrud, Jean Glaser and Jean Eis. Barbara Reis was elected as a State Officer of the FHA this past year. Nancy Tuschl and David Lukes were in the One Act Play while Jean Eis, Verna Duveneck, David Lukes, Nancy Tuschl, Dick Blank, Myron Schuler and Barb Reis were in the Senior Class Play. Throughout our high school years, the Class of T960 has participated in activities too numerous to mention. The energetic students were quick to see something lacking, and quick to remedy it. It is with regret that we put to an end four of the best years of our lives. Page Twenty-Two
