K., 'l'lllCfNiE EDITORS ,Indy Robinson and Susan Arndt study the iw-sulls of the 1950 census in the .llislrocIeed. They found some surprising eontrasts between the students of 1950 and 1960. To eount the number of people in the l'nited States and to find the faets about them. the 11. 5. government takes a eensus every decade. To find the facts about Xlishawaka High School, the .llzkkorleezl also takes a eensus every ten years. This year the Nlislsoeditors distributed questionnaires to every student and special ones to the seniors and faeulty. From the three questionnaires they tabulated the 68,110 answers and summarized the data to prepare a profile of the average boy and girl. The census takers found the enrollment at M115 had in- creased up to 1958 then dropped suddenly when Penn High Sehool was started. The 1961! enrollment was seven fewer than the number in 1950. They also found increases in the number of TV sets in students' homes, the number of pic-tures tucked in a billfold. and the number of hours a student spent study- ing. Students in 1961! belonged to fewer sehool elnlls. owned more sweaters, and saw fewer movies than those in 19511. A bigger percentage had jobs. were Church mem- bers, and eame to school because they wanted to, not because' they were required to come by their parents or the 1aw.
