thletic Representatives Praise Coaches I think Minot High chool has the best thletic program in North akota. lt offers a variety f sports for students to articipate in and pro- ides us with the best oaching staff to build trong teams. I am proud to have com- eted for MHSQ it has aught me that discipline nd hard work are the on- y way to accomplish whatever goals I might have. Holly Flickinger The system of athletics at Magic City Campus can offer any athlete the opportunity to excel, to achieve any certain goal he sets so long as that athlete is determined. Joe Vicha I feel Minot High School definitely has one of the top athletic programs in the state. Not only does it consist of excellent equipment and facilities but also consists of top quality coaches, a good positive attitude and a great winning tradition. Andy Patzner 'lf-mi I feel the athletic system at Minot High is definitely one of the best in the state. We not only have great facilities and an abundant amount of par- ticipants with the desire and ability to succeed, but we also have some of the greatest coaches, and without them athletics just wouldn't exist. I would like to thank all my coaches for they were the ones who made me work and gave me the desire to succeed. Dana Fiedler

Academic Representatives Work for High GPF f I . tk K 1' A good attitude towards learning and a willingness to accept responsibility has given me the ability to do well in school. And this, as well as help from teachers and other peo- ple along the way, has given me academic suc- cess in my four years at Minot High. Mike Sheldon C Selection was based on GPA as of Jan. 1, 1983. I think academic suc- cess is probably due more to hard work than to innate ability. Although ability cer- tainly does help and can even make up for a lack of hard work for some people, success usually is not gained without at least a fair amount of work. Joyce Berkey I feel everyone is born with the ability to be smart. The way they are motivated by 'their family and friends determines their in- tellectuality. My father and mother gave me the incentive to get good grades. I feel that hard work is a major part, too. I think that because of my family's help and my hard work I was able to become a representative and now it all seems worth it. Mike Hulet l think enthusiasm plays a big part in get- ting good grades. If a person wants to learn and puts in a little hard work, he should suc- ceed. I've been lucky enough to have had a lot of good teachers that have made their classes fun as well as educational and parents who have shown me how impor- tant a good education is Karen Carlson

Students Define Leadership Qualitie .E i l 2 Leadership is a quali- ty which grows and becomes more refined through time and ex- perience. The characteristics that make up a good leader are not born within him but rather, develop through the years. ln order to lead well, one must learn self- discipline, organization, responsibility, and above all, have a desire to work for whatever he wishes to attain or accomplish. Julie Chu Courage is an impor- tant part of leadership. lt is a brave person who will state his position. A good leader goes in the best direction regardless of the direc- tion of the grain. He does this knowing it may draw criticism. The honor of leader- ship is not in prestige or recognition, but in leading well and doing a good job. Matt Coolidge I feel leadership is a special quality that everyone has within himself. A person just has to utilize that quali- ty. To excel at becom- ing a leader, one must be strong willed and very determined, but one of the most impor- tant things to take into consideration is what others believe in. A leader is one who understands the feel- ings of others and weighs the value of them in the final decision. Eric Svare ml-I -..-...J I feel leadership is a quality everybody can have if they have enough love for what they are doing. The qualities of a leader are developed through the years by supportive teachers, family, and other students. Self- discipline, enthusiasm, sensitivity, and ability to delegate responsibili- ty make being a leader something anyone can achieve. Becky Brooks
