In 1946 there were five members of the science and mathematics division facultyg today there are fifty-five. Simi- lar figures could be cited for each divi- sion of the college. The Business divi- sion did not even exist until 1947 when it began with one faculty member. To- day the Business faculty numbers twenty-eight and offers one of the most rapidly growing programs in the col- lege. Business division studies cover both the preparation of business teachers and workers for business and industry in the areas of business administration, ac- counting, economics, and related fields. The certified public accountant program was fully approved in 1962. Employers in business and industry actively seek MSC graduates-several hundred well- known firms annually interview students for business positions. In addition, MSC offers a strong pre- professional program in a broad range of professional fields so that a student may take a year or two of preliminary training before entering a professional school. Other fields in which special work has been added in recent years include education for the handicapped and pro- grams for the training of guidance counselors and elementary principals. These latter programs are on the gradu- ate level and within the master of science degree program. The total effect of MSC's divisional development has meant a pronounced enrichment of instruction, particularly at the level of advanced study in the students' area of major and minor con- centration. Occupied in the summer of 1962, the Industrial Arts complex houses on Highland Campus both oflices and classrooms of the Mathematics and the Indutsrial Arts divisions. F. s lf ' l N.. A. Q l l

Mankato State College's Highland Campus is the living symbol of one Of the fastest growing colleges in the nation. And perhaps it would not be inappropriate to say, You ainit seen nothing yet. As the student body grows, the faculty is strengthened, and the facilities rise, the academic P1'0grams of the college broaden. What the future will bring for the college will depend on the program the Minnesota state legislature feels it should provide at the college, and without a doubt, as in the past, its decisions will be made in accordance with the needs of the citizens of the state. 1 Among the most modern facilities of their kind, the Highland Campus Physical Education complex of field house, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, and Blakeslee Field was completed early in 1963. The new Indian football field is lighted for night action and boasts permanent concrete bleachers.
