Activities Encourage Relationships Personal and social expression was encouraged by new opportunities in activities and athletics. The Senior — 9 program paired seniors with freshmen, giving seniors o chance to get to know — and in some coses hassle — unsuspecting 9rh-groders. There were o few freshmen who would hove liked more opportunity to express themselves in return. Musically, new small groups were formed, and the bond program sow o major reorgonizoiton, with the best'' bond ratified Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Christmas music of Madrigals and Singers wos recorded and mode ovoiloble for sole on cassette and LP, which hadn't been done for o number of yeors. Vocal lessons were ovoiloble. Athleticolly, teams performed well, with oil Homecoming athletic events M.A. victories and o fair showing throughout the seasons. Spiritually, convocation, homeroom worship rime and Bible classes offered opportunities for self-expression through shoring of talents and opinions. Spiritual Life Week in the foil sow o new opprooch with doily convocations and a parent interaction meeting. Rev. Denny Moon challenged the student body to move towards well-being.'' Encouraged to express themselves in God s love, the choir enriched Thursday convocations with their songs. Youth Alive, a student Bible study group, was formed. Restrictions Challenge Expression Personal expression wos nor wirhour irs challenges. After over 20 years, Minnehaha got our of the school bus business and began irs first full year of leasing Sr. Paul and Suburbon busses. Although this resulted in improved service, mony students from the large junior and senior dosses (200 in each class) preferred driving cars to school. Because of limited parking space, a $35 parking sticker wos required to pork in Minnehaha lots and fines were issued to those who didn't cooperate. Permonenr locks were installed on oil school lockers to protect contents, bur some students were nor pleased at having to remember their combinations every time they needed a book. In spire of limitations, srudenrs ' listed art, English and Bible journals, Bible dosses, history projects, book reports, choirs and bonds, drama programs (induding the fall play ’ Flowers for Algernon ), wood shop projects, publications, the Creative Arts Contest and mony other items os forums they were given to express yourself!''
