Homecoming 1957 was certainly no exception. Everyone seemed more excited, and the whole day seemed more wonderful than it had ever been before. As the festivities began we all attended the Coronation. The lights were dimmed, and the attendants were escorted in. Diane, Gerry, Indy and Linda all looked very pretty in bright red brocade dresses. Then the candidates themselves entered looking very queenly in white brocade. Mary, Nancy and Ruthann were royally escorted to the platform. Very slowly Bruce Anderson, our student council president, opened the envelope that would tell who would be our queen. just when everyone was sure they couldnit stand the suspense any longer, he placed the crown on Nancyis head. Queen Nancy Nyquist has been a cheerleader and a class officer and held other offices during her four years at Minnehaha. She's really full of pep and has been a wonderful friend to everyone. She made a lovely queen. Following the coronation there was a very good program. Entertain- ment was provided by a boys' quartet and their accompanist who played the piano and guitar very well. NVe enjoyed them very much. Next a banquet was held in honor of the royalty. The dining hall was beautifully decorated, and many of the Queenis loyal subjects attended. Although we didn't win our game with Saint Paul Academy that night at Hamline Field, it was a wonderful day, one that will be long remembered by Minnehaha students. This year we have had many varied and interesting speakers. During Missionary week our speakers represented Africa, japan and South America. From our own faculty we have had Rev. Bloomdahl, Miss Fellroth, Rev. johnson, and President Anderson. Among our student speakers have been Dave Sweet, whose sermon is being published in the Covenant Conference News, Ingolf Kronstad, Iohn Foreman, Paul Brunelle, and WValter VVilson. Mr. Opel and jim Noble demonstrated powerful hi-fi and sterophonic sound with some entertaining and beautiful recordings. The band has taken over the chapel services with a number ot Christmas selections and others. XVe have also had guest speakers from churches around the Twin Cities One of the most stimulating and educational talks was given to us by well- known Senator Humphrey. For Lincoln's birthday we had Dr. McMurtry, an expert on Lincoln and his life, speak to us. Chapel has certainly been memorable this year, and we are grateful to those who have arranged it. 4 5 6 7 11121314 1l19!0!1 !Si6!'l!O SAT B r--L-..l- Il 116 N.: C-J xi' A 14 xi Row 1 C Johnson D Johnson L Olson M Chrlsvensen B Anderson J Anderson G Dusterhoff K Holderson P Murdock J Anderson Row 2 M Larson J Schultz C Sederberg B Johnson G Slroglund N Mattson M Rossow A Cannon P Munler Row 3 A Johnson K Lcngslen R Linden B Julnus R Nyvoll J Anderson R l.1en J Wulson Row 4 M Swanson W Kruckeberg D Hoglund J Foreman D Rhodes l.
